We were really looking forward to ordering from Rangoli for our Diwali dinner, but were unfortunately disappointed with both the food and customer service. We placed an order online for the Dinner for Two (Non-Vegetarian) combo which states on their website that it includes your choice of dessert, and the available options being Gulab Jamun or Rasmalai. First off, we picked up our food from the restaurant and headed home in the rain only to find out that they packed the wrong dessert in our order. We called the restaurant to see if they could rectify the situation for us and the lady we spoke with was very dismissive of the issue. She told us that they don’t offer rasmalai as a dessert for the Dinner for Two combos and “everybody knows that”. I explained that this was our first time ordering from their restaurant and we were able to select rasmalai as a dessert for our combo - it even specifies this on the receipt we received (see image). Even if it was an error on the website (things happen!), we would have appreciated if they let us know either through a phone call once the order was place or when we picked up our food. She continued to gaslight us about this and ultimately said that they’ll fix their website but “now we know for next time”. In a calm voice, we said there likely wouldn’t be a next time because of their poor customer service, and she said “we don’t tolerate this language over the phone” and hung up the phone! We were shocked at how bad the customer service was. Secondly, the food was bland and not worth a second visit with so many other great Indian restaurants in Orleans and across Ottawa. The butter chicken had a really strong tomato flavour that made the dish have an almost- sour taste. The lamb vindaloo and naan were okay, but lacked the layered flavours typically associated with Indian food. Save yourself the money and choose to support restaurants that actually care about their food and customers.

I have been eating at Rangoli’s since 2014 and unfortunately each time since has been worse than the previous. The last time I ordered from Rangoli’s I decided it would really be my last due to mould on their food and most of all a disrespectful attitude towards customers. My friend and I ordered the dinner for two which includes a dessert of Gulab Jamun. While the curry was adequate, it did taste less fresh than it should. However, the worst of it was the Gulab Jamun. Following our meal I took a spoonful and saw fuzzy green mould on it. I understand mistakes happen and mould could simply be a product of being stored in a warm moist kitchen, but it was obvious that this was not fresh. Once we realized the mould, my friend suggested letting them know in case they had a whole batch of Gulab Jamun that had gone bad. We went back to the restaurant the next day and my friend discreetly advised them of what had happened along with showing the picture of the aforementioned mould. The hostess claimed that it was not mould and did not even apologize for a less than fresh meal. She then proceeded to say that it was “crystallized sugar” knowing full well that there is no way a fuzzy green spot could be sugar. Following this experience I have to admit I was shocked. It is one thing to serve an old batch of food but to be rude to fairly regular customers is unacceptable. My advice is spend your money going to a better restaurant that can admit when they have made a mistake and makes service a priority. If I could I would give zero stars.

The lady attending us was brilliant, have never seen such a sharp quick thinking fast acting waitress in a long time. Its almost like telepathy as she has all your next requirements on her mind even before you can call for it. Would have gladly given 10 stars for her performance. I ordered the vegetarian platter with an assortment of items, but it was the garlic nan that takes your breath away, its so so good!. The entrees and the starters were tastefully prepared and the sauces or the chutneys were authentic. The food was served hot and the prices were reasonable. The Ontario Red wine had a very smooth flavour and we enjoyed it very much. No hesitation awarding 5 stars for everything but like i said, the waitress deserved 10 stars! Great place to dine out Indeed.

This Resturant just Ruined my mother’s evening.

I live far away from my parents in another city. My family has been a long term customer of the Resturant for years.

I ordered food from them as a treat for Mother’s Day. My parents are both older and my father has respiratory issues and have been feeling cooped up and isolated due to covid. They can’t leave the house.

I put the order in at 5:45, and figured since it was 10 minute drive an hour wait to get the food would be fine.

It’s currently 8:30. Nothing, they have yet to get dinner. Multiple drivers have been to the Resturant and say it’s chaos in the parking lot. Apparently they took too many orders and were overwhelmed. Some people have been waiting hours. There are people getting in fights.

I called the Resturant they lied and blamed a computer crash, people there are saying they took too many orders, and are sending people away and getting everything mixed up.

my mom was looking forward to a fancy dinner and even dressed up. My dad didn’t make anything for her. Her day is ruined. She was literally in tears, she was having a bad day and this was the breaking point.Bad enough I can’t be there to hug her, she was looking forward to this one small treat.

This place’s greed taking in more they can handle ruined many people’s nights tonight. I can only imagine other mothers in the same situation. A businesses greed taking advantage of people stuck with few options

DO...
