Shawarma De Roza — Restaurant in Ottawa

So I personally I am a lover of shawarma and have most definitely have been to every shawarma place worth going to in Ottawa. I like to save time and usually go to the shawarma store beside my house, but 1 day my mother had brought me Chicken Shawarma plate from Shawarma De Roza and I was not familiar with it, I proceeded to eat it , and everything had changed since then.....that chicken plate was like no other shawarma I have ever popped in my mouth. The chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection with the most unique and fresh taste of chicken I’ve had in a while at a shawarma store, the potatoes I’m just going to go right ahead and say they have the best potatoes with garlic sauce in Ottawa. Cooked to perfection with perfect amount of seasoning that will have you wondering what the seasoning even is. The rice was also very phenomenal and has the most light and fluffy texture and you can tell was very very fresh and full of flavour. The salad was amazing as well just as all shawarma salads are amazing in my opinion. So once I had this plate I was blownnnnn away at how long it’s been since I enjoyed a shawarma plate that much. I really thought it was perfect everything about it was mouth watering and the garlic sauce was also one of the tastiest I’ve ever had. So 1 week later I was really craving the same chicken because I’ve really never had chicken that good from shawarma places, so I decided to go myself and got myself the same order. Might I also add the place is under new ownership and the owners were so welcoming and generous and very caring people. I had told them about how much I enjoyed the shawarma and I came to give it another try. The owner was very pleased and so was I. And all I will say is when I finished the plate ..all I thought to myself is I am personally never eating shawarma again if it is not Shawarma De Roza. The consistency of the plate #1 to the 2nd time I went was IDENTICAL and 10/10 both times. And all I have to say I’ve never wrote a review like this for any store but the service and food provided here at Shawarma De Roza most definitely deserved this. They also have Halwa Puri on weekends which is a traditional Pakistani breakfast and all I have heard are good things about it. This is one of the best family owned restaurants in the entire city! The owner is super kind and friendly and always greets you with a pleasant hello and a smile. They are an extremely hard working family and deserved your local support!

On top of that, the food is amazing! Shawarma with a Pakistani twist, with plenty of Pakistani dishes available through catering orders! The grilled meats are well seasoned with a mix of spices & marinade, the veggies are always fresh and the hummus and garlic are delicious (made in house). To say that the portions are generous would be a massive understatement. I have been going here ever since my friend told me about it a year ago and the portions still shock me to this day!

Normally I get a chicken salad or chicken plate, and for the prices they are great value because I am never able to finish either one in one sitting and always have leftovers for a second meal. The beef is just as good and just as generous of a portion - my friend always get this, I just personally prefer chicken.

This is the best place in Ottawa for a shawarma, hands down. Food is fresh, homemade and cooked to perfection. The lady at the counter does everything herself and she is not rude at all. To those whining about her approach in other reviews: you must understand she is from a different culture where people express themselves in a way that differs from Canadian style (which btw is not necessarily the most un-rude way in the world just because everyone says ‘sorry’ all the time.) This lady IS kind and if you try and keep the perspective, you will feel like she could be that granny of yours who wants to make you happy with her food. That’s it!
