Not amused. The servers are very friendly and good. However l see the prices have been jacked up and discovered that you only get one side instead of 2?? You need to update your prices on line and other details. When you pay for a meal over 30 dollars (31 3/4 ribs full rack) and get only one side it feels like a half meal. That is not a cheap meal. One small heap of mashed potato with a bit of gravy. I realize there are other choices for sides. I felt ripped off and was still hungry. Personally I don't think you are doing the wise thing by giving one side instead of 2. It's a small town essentially and word gets around. Personally l will not be returning for this reason. When l went in past the 2 sides were great but this put me off. The servers were great, atmosphere is nice and the drinks were good but essentially people come for the food.
Post edit- I got a answer from owner. You asked where I saw the price thing on line. Just google Happy Jacks Parksville and press on menu. The menu and prices are there but it says 1 year ago l believe. I didn't see any updated pricing or changes. I took a screen shot as well. I didn't explore any other sites just googled Happy Jacks Parksville and looked at menu.As per the price l saw I believe the ribs were 28 on the online menu. Also you stated the one side is larger now.Basically got a ice cream scoop size of mashed potato with a little gravy so that doesn't seem larger. Also I know it's Nanaimo but the white spot offers bottomless fries as well. Also I have been to the blackbird schnitzel Haus which you get 2 sides, Ricky's has sides, milanos has sides. There has never been a problem with food delivery wait time at these places even with the' sides'
Edit update again- I saw a updated response from owner. Thank you for changing it back to 2 sides for the entrees. Yes a starch and veg for sides is what you expect with a nice dinner. Burgers wraps or sandwiches you get 1 side like fries, soup or salad which is the norm in restaurants.

Read more3 of us went for dinner tonight, my friend ordered a coconut shrimp appy and a steak sandwich rare. The shrimp showed up with my burger and the waitress never even placed his meal order. After an hour wait I got 2 bites into my burger and it was pink in the middle. When I showed the waitress she tried to tell me that's how they are made. Ran into a guy in the parking lot who said the same thing his burger was raw and his wife's meal was gross. He was named Jack and I am Jacki, so 2/3 "Jack's" aren't happy and would not recommend.
**reply... Don't even TRY to imply I ate most of the burger to try and save face! My " half eaten burger" was cut in half, I was starving and literally took 2 bites before I noticed the meat was pink the third was chewed up and spit into my napkin, and the last bite was dropped onto the plate with my other half of the burger. I left the restaurant immediately because I was going to puke. So don't lecture me on temperatures etc. You also know that was the SECOND complaint about pink burgers last night because I ran into the Mac and cheese burger guy Jack from Port Alberni in the parking lot. EDIT: I’ve read your response and I would like to correct your inaccuracies. We were there for dinner and not lunch and there were no food specials at the time. I also did not request to split a single fish and chips meal, I requested to split a two piece fish and chips meal, one piece per child but I was denied that. I was forced to purchase 2 adult sized meals for a 3 year old and 5 year old.
As you noticed while clearing our tables, the meals were maybe 30% eaten, leaving the rest for waste. What value are you referring to?
As your Assistant General Manager should know, the restaurant business is a hospitality business. If customers aren’t feeling welcomed, then they will choose not to return. If you choose to make anti-customer rules, then customers will vote with their wallet and not return. And please don’t brag about using locally caught fish, they were not fresh and very fishy. Also, we are not concerned about your prices, our concerns are about your customer service.
Finally, using a response to bad feedback as an opportunity to advertise to other readers about your locally sourced incredients and fair (I disagree) prices is pretty sleazy and unrelated to my concerns.
