We were regular at Lalaji’s and would get take out from them at least twice a month. We always felt that the take out we got from them was always somewhat inferior to the food we would get during our dine-ins. My hubby ordered some of his favourite chole bhature, samosas and allo tiki burger today. The samosas were literally dunked in oil and it seemed as if they were fried twice. Just to give you an account for how oily it was: by accident, I left the samosa bag on my bed sheet and it left oil strains all over it. The bhaturas were very dry and my hubby fet like they were mot fried at an appropriate temperature. The whole order was a disappointment and seemed as if an amateur had made it. Despite such a disappointing experience, my hubby gave them a call and they offered to make to bhaturas again to which he agreed. The call was made at around 3.30pm and we were yet to receive anything around 4.50 pm. At the end, we called them again and said we didn’t want the bhaturas anymore to which they replied “ok” and hung up. The main reason for this review isn’t the quality of food, but is the quality of customer service. On a side note: I don’t like to leave negative reviews especially for small businesses. However, with this review I wanted to express my concern and displeasure with the...
Read moreThis used to be one of our favorite places for Indian. And the food is still amazing. The issue is completely with the kitchen and the service. The last time we were there, the service was awful. Drinks not refilled, ignored by the waitress, food overcooked etc. But the place was busy and you know.... COVID.... so we were more than willing to give it another chance. Tonight we were literally the only table in there. We were completely ignored after placing our order. Had to literally flag down the waitress to get a refill on water for our daughter. Asked how much longer food would be (after 45 minutes and all we had had was one appetizer but we had watched 14 take out orders go out). Got ready to leave after an hour and went to pay the bill without receiving our food. Told the food was sitting there. Literally sitting getting cold on the counter but she couldn't be bothered to...
Read moreI'm not sure what has happened in the last 10 months ( new owner/ management/ cooks??) but I used to go on a regular last year and man is there ever a difference .
There were 5 of us eating in for my mom's birthday so we ordered family style.
The server was very kind but had a hard time understanding us sometimes.
I asked her if the menu changed and she said she didn't know.
The samosas were by far the most disappointing - we ordered two different kinds - chicken and beef ( a total of 4) we all agreed we would get better at a gas station.
The shrimp pakora were good. And the curry dishes we also good ( but not quite how we remembered them)
I asked for their special bread basket which had at 3-4 different style naan breads/ flavours - but the server just brought regular naan. ( which still tasted ok but I sure do miss the special basket they had)
Probably won't go back...
