Ok first, Its a pub, no? So you'd think the draft beer wouldn't taste so watery. There was not enough carbonation in my opinion and I tried three beers. A rousse, my wife's IPA and then the house rousse boreal that was my replacement. Not a fan. If you drink beer you know what beer is supposed to taste like. The waiter, (Alex) was kind enough to replace my first beer with another and said he tasted the tap and I was correct that it was a little off. Even if he was lying, I appreciated the effort. As everyone else in the pub was drinking draft beer I figured maybe this is how millennials drink now. Im 41.

Second was the entrees. My Son pointed out, only after we finished our plate, that the menu read 5 pieces of duck wings and we both got 4. Again, Alex, apologized and asked if we wanted the two missing wings. Seeing as we were satisfied with the plate and it wasn't a big deal, I refused. If my son hadden't mentioned it, I wouldn't of noticed. The duck was that good that it didnt bother me. I just feel it necessary to point it out as cost to food ratio can be an issue for some ppl.

For our main meal my wife ordered the poutine with all the dressings. My Son had a burger and I had the octopus. All were delicious and presentation was on point. In no way did we feel we were over paying for anything.

The ambiance is nice and there's good air in place. Cozy but not crowded. I really like the slate bolted to the wall. Original. I'll definitely come back but maybe stick with the canned beer selection they have.

As an anglophone I felt immediately comfortable. Although waitress didn’t know English too well she was polite and nice and helped me bc I should be the one who knows French but there was no fake misunderstanding or use of French to be rude or lazy. They were so welcoming and friendly and helped me pick out delicious beer #19 stout was amazing, soup was delicious and very hot with truffle and the sandwich was A+. Definitely will come back every time I am passing by. Nicest interaction I have had this week from French people and it is feels great knowing I am not made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Coming from USA where so many Canadians talk poorly of our President it was a real shocker at home much more strict Canada is about their language laws and culture they are like Donald trump on steroids. The night started out great on the heated terrace - a long overdue night out with friends. Our friendly server made some menu recommendations and I went with his first suggestion - the osso bucco. Unfortunately the meat was dry and chewy and the risotto it was paired with was bland, undercooked, and crunchy. Our server never came to the table to ask how our food was, so there wasn’t an opportunity to tell him about the issues. He came to clear our plates when we were finished, and despite our wine glasses being empty and wine bottle being half full, he did not fill our glasses. The whole meal, we topped up our own wine and water. As someone who rarely gets to dine out with friends, I just wanted a good meal and good service.
