Had the gaucho ribeye steak. What a complete disappointment. The chimichuri sauce was great and the steak was cooked properly (-medium rare) but the steak was doused in a steak spice sauce that resembled a BBQ sauce. OMG what a disgrace, such a beautiful peace of meat destroyed by over sauce. The menu says steak seasoning but they completely ruin the steak with their sauce seasoning. Do not get this steak. My wife had the garlic sirloin with shrimp and it was fantastic. I couldn’t eat all of my steak because of the overpowering sauce. Please, use salt and pepper the steak and let the chimichuri sauce do the rest.
UPDATE JAN 4 - The manager contacted me and asked if I would give them another try. Of course, all of my other meals at the Prince Albert Mr. Mike's have been great. I'm not the type to make a stink looking for a free meal but in this case I do feel more than a little disappointed and my whole evening, including the hour drive from Candle Lake just to eat here that evening with my wife, to have been very disappointing. So I will take them up on the kind offer. Because I am back in Calgary it will have to wait till spring summer when I am back at Candle Lake. Looking forward to it. Again, if you have read down this far, please don't ruin such a wonderful piece of ribeye steak by swamping it in a steak sauce seasoning that is strong with smoked chili flavouring, the steak gets completely lost and you might as well eat a spoon of steak sauce. I hope the head cook for the franchise...
Read moreThe food was a hit and miss, I got delicious fish, my mother got rock hard fish and couldn't cut it with a knife.. my 83 year old father couldn't cut his steak nor chew it! Then my husband got a steak and his was super hard.. They both believed they microwaved them to defrost. Then thrown on the grill.. because the steaks were that bad.. the 2 children meals were badly spicy for a 9/ 7 year old.. That even an adult couldn't eat.. Why they did that I don't know! They did make my elderly dad, a new steak but he said it cut easier but to eat was horrible.. The service was fantastic, and the manager was amazing and did try to fix the food.. I honestly felt his shame.. he did take off a percentage off our bill.. that was nice.. he tried so hard to make things right.. but my parents said they didn't want to go back there again.. that definitely was a promise we made to them. It's unfortunate that food had to come out that way.. maybe look into your cooks and watch what they are serving. Food for thought.. Waitress was so kind, gave her a 20% tip.. So don't microwave, to defrost your steaks, don't use so much spice in your children's meals, And please don't re deep-fry your fish.. then it would have been the perfect meal.. my family won't be going...
Read moreThe worst service I have ever experienced. I was up in Prince Albert for a tournament. A team of approximately 15 of us called ahead and told the restaurant we would be coming in and sitting on the bar side. Right away the waitress acted like we were an inconvenience and was very rude. A few of us ordered the drink special that evening. 30 minutes later we didn't receive any of our drinks. We inquired to the bartender and he stated they were out of an ingredient. She never came back to tell us or ask what else we would like. There was also a beer that sat at the bar top for over 15 minutes. One of us went to get the now warm beer and the bartender told her that "this was also for our team" and pushed forward 2 more drinks that were ordered from our table. We ended up going and collecting our own drinks from the bar as well as serving our OWN drinks to each other. A meal was also forgotten about and they did not receive it until everyone else was done eating. At the end of the night all of our bills were mixed up and it took over 20 minutes just to pay. There were only 3 other tables on the bar side with 4 people or less so it was not busy. I will never return to this Mr....
