This is a long post.
Normally, I would rave about The Spice Trail in Prince Albert, but today was not a good experience. The food and the server were great, which was to be expected. What we did not expect was having the owner confront my friend over chia tea. The chia tea she, and myself incuded, are used to is usually black, but without knowing chia tea is traditionally served with cream was unexpected. Although it looked beautiful, it had to be returned because of a milk intolerance. Apparently that did not sit well with the owner, so she approached our table and said she got exactly what she oredered. After my friend apologized, the owner said, "You know nothing about tea." I immediately told her, "That was rude." She then went on and on about how inexperienced my friend was about tea then turned to me and tried to justify her behavior. I did not let it slide.
She finally walked away when our server brought our food, but judging by the amount of staff that had to peek around the kitchen door. I believe she carried on her rant to all of them, and when we were done, the server was the one to ring in our tab - which never happens.
My friend did not deserve to be treated like that. She is kind, takes everything with a grain of salt, and she is not the type of person to make a fuss. When she apologized for not knowing it would have cream, that should have been the end of it. An owner in the hospitality industry does not have the right to talk down to a customer or be confrontational over a cup of tea, especially when it directly affects their dietary health. That individual's behavior was absolutely uncalled...
Read moreThis was my partner and I’s new favourite place to dine in, so we thought. Out first visit was good, except our waitress glaring, sounding very annoyed, not knowing what alcohol was served, and not knowing how spicy the spicy levels are- and giving us half service when we’d call her over and she would come to help us out.. then leave before finishing helping us and while we were still asking her a question. The second time we went in, we got the same rude waitress. We began with pakora’s and went to eat them right away, but they were extremely hard. We tried to cut them but they’re were very solid so we didn’t bother eating them. Our rice had an incredible amount of cumin seeds, it was hard to eat so we didn’t finish that. Then I let the waitress know about our pakoras being so hard (they felt very old or over cooked) and they called the manager in.. the manager came to speak with us and she said “I’m very sorry, we’re about to close and so we can’t make you new ones. They get hard if you don’t eat them fast.” So I said “we did, but they were hard as a rock.. they are over cooked. We didn’t even finish one.” The manager didn’t agree with me and still added it to our bill at the end.. wouldn’t recommend this place. Not worth the money spent if you’re not eating a nice meal and having good service. We are NOT...
Read moreI used to enjoy visiting this restaurant. its ambience is good in the area, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. While the portion sizes are a bit on the smaller side and the prices are relatively high, it was something I was willing to overlook because the setting made up for it.
However, my experience took a disappointing turn recently. I came across a comment made by the owner on Instagram that I found not only arrogant but also racist in tone. It’s perfectly fine to support your favourite actors or personalities, but doing so by putting others down, especially those who are also respected in their fields,is simply uncalled for. It’s important to do proper research and show some sensitivity before posting on public platforms.
I had a lot of respect for the owner and even considered her a friend, but that changed after this incident. I’ve since unfollowed and distanced myself due to the nature of that comment. It’s disheartening to see such behaviour, especially from someone representing a business.
While I won’t be returning, I do wish the staff the best. If you’re looking for a good alternative, I’d recommend Salt N Pepper, a place that offers both great food and respect for all.
The only thing I’ll truly miss about this restaurant is...
