This was our second visit to Brown’s Socialhouse in Prince George, and I was coming back specifically for their Sesame Ginger Gyoyza, which I found were the best dumplings we’ve had so far in Prince George. We also like their homemade tortilla chips and this time Hector ordered the loaded nachos with beef. This time we sat in their little sunroom addition, because even though it’s all glassed in there are big propane heaters overhead splashing down the heat. I’ve been so cold at all the restaurants we have been to with Feb/Mar 2023 cold snap I’ve had to wear my coat in the restaurants, so it’s nice to sit in a place and actually be warm. Of course, Hector was complaining that he felt like a rotisserie chicken. Our server Sydney was friendly and bubbly and super helpful and quick. Brown Socialhouse was playing music that was sort of jazzy and mellow so the sunroom had a nice ambiance even though it wasn’t in the main dining/bar area. Browns Socialhouse was the only restaurant that had fully cleared their sidewalks out front and it was a nice level parking lot so that was a nice thing for seniors like us. Hector decided to have a drink and ordered a Captains Morgan spiced rum and sprite. Sydney our server came back with it so fast she must’ve communicated telepathically with the bartender to grab it and turn around and bring it back so fast. This was a Monday night so it wasn’t super busy, but she was still exceptionally fast even for that. It was the same for our food, it seems she must have telepathically transmitted our order to the kitchen she came back so fast with Hector’s loaded nachos with the extra beef and the sesame ginger gyoza for me. The dumplings lived up to the last experience, very tasty for the dumpings themselves and they have this delicious chili sauce on the plate which really enhances them… very flavorful with just a tiny touch of heat.
Hector really enjoy the loaded nachos which is definitely big enough for a meal, especially with the extra ground beef on top, Even had some to take home for tomorrow... I took a picture of Sydney with our takeout box, Showing her great smile, and and the great and Van send...

If you’re in the mood for calamari that tastes like it was left in a desert for three days, this is your place. I’ve had jerky with more moisture. As for the chicken lettuce wraps? Hmmm. They came with lettuce pieces so tiny I thought they were garnish. Trying to wrap anything in them felt like trying to make a taco out of a postage stamp.
Now, here’s where it gets even better. We didn’t say anything during the meal because our server was actually amazing—the only highlight of the whole experience. I figured I’d just leave honest feedback in the survey and move on with my life. But nope.
The manager texts me (yes, texts!) and somehow takes my feedback about the food and turns it into a performance review for the server. Like… what? No mention of the kitchen, no accountability where it belonged. Just, “Your server definitely should have offered to replace the calamari and get you more lettuce,” and a note that she’ll be following up with the server—even though I clearly said the server was the best part of our night.
So I replied, gently clarifying that the issue was with the food, not the service. And she doubled down with, “Absolutely! Our goal is always to provide exceptional service and part of that is noticing if a guest is not enjoying their meals…”
So… now servers are supposed to telepathically know when a guest is silently choking down dry squid and struggling to wrap chicken in lettuce the size of corn chips? Got it. Seriously hope my server is not watching me that closely, maybe she thought I preferred to eat my lettuce wraps with a fork like a salad, she was extremely busy and still very attentive.
I wasn’t even going to write a public review, but the manager’s response made it clear: accountability isn’t the priority—passing...
Read moreFeedback and Appreciation for Brown Social House
Dear Brown Social House Management Team, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share my recent dining experience at Brown Social House, as well as express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service I received following my feedback. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in the Fried Chicken Ramen, a seasonal favorite of mine. However, I must regrettably note that the experience did not meet my expectations. The noodles were unexpectedly chewy, and the broth lacked its usual depth, resulting in a less-than-optimal dining experience. Upon bringing these concerns to the attention of the server, I encountered resistance from the kitchen staff, which left me feeling unheard and disappointed. As someone who values consistency and quality in dining experiences, this encounter prompted me to reconsider my patronage.
However, I am pleased to share that my sentiment shifted upon receiving a prompt and thoughtful response from General Manager Dana. Their swift action and generous gesture of a gift card demonstrated a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction, which I deeply appreciate. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Borwn Social House for their dedication to excellence and for promptly addressing my concerns. Your outstanding hospitality has not gone unnoticed, and I look forward to returning to Brown Social House for another enjoyable dining experience in the future.
Thank you once again for your...
