I've been fortunate to visit numerous Montana restaurants, so I was excited to see Prince George was getting one. My first visit wasn't a great experience but that was opening week and, while I was very disappointed in both the service and attitude of the staff, I thought it fair to give them a second chance.
My second visit was Saturday March 17, 2018 and while the food was decent everything else was even worse then my first visit. The servicer was particularly slow but it was her attitude that sealed the deal. We waited for absolutely everything and she did not even pretend that we were of any importance to her at all.
When we first arrived it was fairly busy (2-3 Table wait). While we waited the 30 minutes we actually had people who were exiting telling us not to go in because they had been treated poorly. (More colourful but harsher language was used).
I wish I had my phone with me to video the two guys who came out to sweep the sidewalk. Never have I witnessed so little effort put into anything, that of course was until I got inside.
We waited for absolutely everything. 20 minutes before she even bothered to come to ask if we wanted anything, another 15 to get drinks and order, 30 minutes to get our food and another 5 to get cutlery for the table.(while our meals sat there getting cold). This all while I witness her lackadaisically chatting with her co-workers etc. There was plenty of staff around, maybe even too much becasue they spent most of their time visiting with each other and seem to have forgot what they were there for. Our server only came back to our table after we asked 3 other staff to send someone, and then she appeared annoyed that the entire table was wanting a second drink (after 40 minutes from the first one).
I won't be back until I see a sign that says "Under New Management"
After another 20 minutes waiting for our bill I told her that "I was very underwhelmed with the service", she said "Well it was kinda busy", I said yes but that was an hour ago and now have the table s are empty and we still can't get service to which she just shrugged and walked away. We waited another 10 minutes for Visa machine. They won't have to worry about it being busy for too long. None of the 6 of us will be going back ad from the comment form the other tables I'm pretty certain that there are many others with the...
Read moreWhoever the chef is, your food is amazing. But I'm disappointed in the service. I've gone 4 times to Montana's. The first visit was the best, waitress was polite. Got out drinks to us within minutes. The seating was super awkward and I hated it. But overall it was the best. And it went downhill from there. We went today and sat down in the waiting area and the hostess came up and didn't notice us for about 6 minutes, when she did she looked shocked. She would've seen us if she'd looked up. We got seated. In the middle of the room. Just the two of us. Super awkward seating arrangements. By the time the waitress came, we already knew and we wanted and she took both orders down. We didn't see her with our drinks for about 20-25 minutes. The hostess actually stopped by to ask if She had shown up, we said yes, but before we could ask her anything She turned around and left, right as I was asking her something. The waitress showed up a little while after. She brought the wrong drinks. Our food came right after thankfully. She stopped by our table right after and asked how the food was, we hadn't really touched it yet. She got one of our orders mixed with the table next to us. She didn't notice and we had already started eating, she left and we didn't see her the rest of our meal. She came back, gave us our receipt. Charged us for the wrong thing, had to wait about 15 minutes for her to come back with the machine After letting let her know we got the mix up and she did apologize for everything, she even said it must have been the longest dinner we've had. It wasn't. The fact that she agreed "that we waited so long was stupid", was annoying. She did fix my drink. Fixed my order but seriously. The food is the only thing I like about Montana's. Service was stupid considering how many waiters and waitress' we saw. I'm pretty sure the guys from the bar brought us our meals not the waitress. Im not usually the one to write reviews. But only 1/4 visits had good service........
Read moreAtmosphere is very comfortable and mellow, good selection of music leaning towards country, very listenable not too loud, made for a good background atmosphere
After being seated, our server Emily came to the table and brought our water and coffee promptly. It was a Tuesday evening and had good attendance but wasn’t anywhere near full and our dinners came over quickly. I got the House Salad and ordered the Buttermilk chicken. I had wanted to get their pot roast soup, but they were already out, I’ll have to come back for lunch one day to have it but will call first to make sure they have it available.
Hector ordered Ribs and Four Cheese Spinach Dip.
I had ordered the loaded baked potato with my dinner but they mistakenly brought the mashed, and they very quickly brought me a plate with a humungous loaded potato with extra sour cream and butter.
Our servers name was Emily, and the staff wearing these cute red check shirts with Levi jeans, And her service was very friendly and down home.
The salad was very crisp and fresh. I quite like the creamy, cilantro dressing, sort of like a mild ranch. The buttermilk chicken was moist and well seasoned (I think they brined it) and the crust was nice and crunchy. Hector really liked his ribs, and both our dinners came with a small cornbread loaf made with a good classic recipe, very nice.
My buttermilk chicken dinner came with green beans, they were nicely cooked and still had a bit of nice crunch.
We ended up sharing the Apple crisp. It was very nicely done dessert, which actually had a nice crunchy topping, which went well with the ice cream. Montana’s is definitely one of the better places to go to A...
