I just left Zoe's Java House where I was humiliated by the woman behind the counter for not placing my used dishes in the right spot. I sat them down while reaching for a napkin, she leaned over the counter to tell me not to leave them there. I attempted to pass them to her as she was leaning over the counter at the time, but she refused to take them. Instead she pointed to another shelf and told me to put them. I apologized and walked to where she was pointing. I once again put the plate down to dispose of the waste into the bin beside this shelf. She came towards me to tell me, no, not there. At which point I dropped the plate and cup unto the shelf, and said 'Do it yourself!' She replied 'I guess you can't read, huh.' As you can see there's no issue with my literacy.
I don't expect to bus my own tables unless it's a fast food establishment, even at some of those my food is delivered to my table, it's not put someplace for me to pick up if my name is called. My returning my used dishes was a courtesy, a word you obviously are not familiar with. I don't work there, I pay to be served food not to be directed on how you want me to bus my table. Be thankful for my anti- confrontational personality, if I had given into the impulse I had at that moment, it would have ended very differently.
Something I didn't mention when originally posting this is the reasons I stopped in there that day. There's not many places open at that time on Saturday afternoon. I was tired. I am a shift worker, and Saturday is my only day off. At that time, I was recovering from a back injury, having just returned to work full time. I forced myself to get out and go for a walk. Unfortunately,I walked further than I intended to and just wanted a place to sit down for a while that wasn't too fussy... instead, I found a manager who just likes to give customers...
Read moreI truly wanted to enjoy my visit to Zoe’s Café this morning, but I left feeling deeply disappointed and honestly hurt. I ordered a cappuccino and a sandwich, expecting a simple but satisfying meal. What I received, however, left me questioning whether my support for this local café matters.
The cappuccino was burnt, bitter, and without any real flavor. The sandwich (picture attached) was just two slices of bread with tomato, lettuce, and a bit of sauce — nothing close to the quality or portion that should come at the price charged. When I pay nearly 40% more than what I would elsewhere, I expect value, not the feeling of being shortchanged.
I always make an effort to support local businesses because I know how hard it is to keep them running, especially in these times. But support must go both ways. Customers deserve respect through fair pricing, proper portions, and care in preparation. Instead, I left with frustration and regret.
This review is not written out of anger, but out of disappointment. At the very least, I feel I deserve an apology for an experience that should have been welcoming but instead left me...
Read moreAnother place that's lost my interest! I used to love this place. Always the place to go for a delicious coffee and healthy lunch options.
I haven't been down here for about a year and a half because of the pandemic, and I went in to see if they had some of the same delicious cinnamon buns. And they did! So, I also got one of my favorites, their broccoli salad. But, after waiting for about 15 minutes and seeing people had come behind me were getting their food, I had to reapproach the counter, and ask if I could please have my salad.
That has never happened to me before! It was all because they have a new young staff member who was completely oblivious as to how to do her job.
Too bad, but, all it would take would be to get good staff back again and I'm sure that the place would be fine!
Like, someone should have been aware that there's a person standing there for 10 minutes staring at them in anticipation of getting...
