We were camping about a half hour outside of Princeton, and we needed to grab supplies and fuel up for further adventure. It was early morning so not much was open quite yet. We shopped at the local save on foods and headed back and walked in, were greeted from our hostess/waitress Nadja who advised us to pick a seat. There was available seating outside, but we opted for a table inside as it was still early, didn't want the chance of being cold at the table. The decor on the inside is simple, there was a stick on the wall. But the ambience inside with the music being on low was nice, and the tvs with random stuff playing on each screen was fine. Nadja handed us the brunch menu, a single sheet, I am sorry I didn't take a picture of it! It listed their drinks and sides and of course the list of omelettes and breakfast bowls. Nadja took our order. It felt like forever before we actually got our food, BUT there were other patrons that got there before us, and by forever, It was probably only 20-ish minutes. We were not expecting the large portion sizes so it was a pleasant surprise! 3-4 of us at our table needed to go boxes. ^^! Nadja was attentive and polite, would definitely enjoy eating here again. Maybe next time we will go for their lunch/dinner menu.

Our family was searching a spot to eat going back to the lower mainland from Keremeos. We stop in Hedley but nothing interested us. So onward to Princeton with more options. Our search first drew us to Thomasina's with excellent reviews. We sat at a table seeing how busy it was and it was just a glorified sandwich shop that you order from a counter then wait and so on. Not impressed as didn't like the atmosphere. We decided to leave and our next option was 'The Copper Pit'. Got there nicer atmosphere so we waited to get seated. They were busy as well and noticed they were understaffed (eventually found out one staffer feel sick so they were short). But our guy waiter was running with his head cut off and still did an amazing job. We ordered our food. Brisket Sandwich with Fries (it was told to be a top pick and it was just that), next a Cheeseburger added mushrooms and fries ( the 6 ounce patties only needed more seasoning otherwise it was very good) last one was the Fettuccine Alfredo(average a little too much sauce but not the worst) ... OVERALL excellent!!!

I was here in May and enjoyed my visit. I ordered the smokehouse burger and it was delicious. Service was excellent and the lady was attentive and friendly. Got seated, waited upon within minuted, ordered, ate, paid and out the door in 45mins (the restaurant did not rush me). I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and most importantly I felt great to be able to support a local small businesses. I returned a few months later in July and unfortunately was a completely opposite experience. Service was poor, the younger male waiter was clearly managing too many tables. The tables beside us waited over 10mins for service; we waited as long for refills. The food check-in “how is your food” only occurred at the end of the meal. In all we were there 1.25hrs and probably 20-30mins too long. Lastly, the food quality for the bbq platter was not what I expected and some of the meat was dry, not enough bbq sauce. I want to support local businesses what with everything going on in the economy; I hope this restaurant improves their service and look into their food quality.

Arrived at 7:20 on a Saturday night and was told there would be a twenty minute wait. Ten minutes later another employee asked if we were waiting to be seated, we said yes, we were told it shouldn’t be too long. We noticed a couple tables with bills on the table. Another women said, it will be 25 minutes. A third women, from behind the bar said we close at 8 sharp. Yet someone was sat as we walked in and others had menus still on the table. Disappointed but had decent service and food down the street and we were done by 8:20 as we were looking for a quick bite. Wait staff should be on same page and not waste peoples time.

Further follow up: Based on the more recent review that someone was served just as the restaurant was closing and weren’t rushed (seems a timely rebuttal to my review?) suggests either there is a difference in management practices among staff or what I initially suspected to be true but opted not to include in our review. We were welcome to wait and and my husband was making small chat to a couple of the staff revealing his American accent. I left for the bathroom and came back to find my husband outside saying they didn’t have a table and were closing at 8 sharp. For the record, he has been a permanent resident living in BC for the past six years. Again disappointed that we waited only to be turned away and further so since the recent review suggests we may have been wrongly...

Original Review: Poor lighting and no ambience. Blah. There was a water shortage at the time in area and server didnt seem mindful of that. Food is pricy, overcooked, service was poor considering how slow it was. Mac and cheese not bad though.

Review after Owner Response: Since I couldn't directly respond to the owners response I thought I would right here: Owner of Copper Pit - Thanks for taking the time to respond you obviously care about your business and glad you take a stand for it. And although I didn't' use the right words around water shortage and should have been boil water advisory it doesn't change the fact that we all don't know what we don't know and thanks for taking the time, effort, energy and expense to ensure the water is safe to drink, and also it's quite common practice for most places to ask customers how they want their water served - there was none of that. I will say that my experience is my experience for that time I went in. And although it is your intent to deliver the best food and service - I can appreciate that. But that was not my experience. I'm quite sure based on other reviews and your regulars their experience is great - Wish you the best....
