Awesome late night spot and a haven from the cold.
My wife and I walked from our hotel in Old Quebec to the Videotron stadium for the Iron Maiden concert and were desperate for not only some food, but some time out of the increasingly cold weather. Enter Casse-Croûte Pierrot.
There was almost nothing around us open until I saw on the map this spot and its bright lights illuminated the dark and it seemed like many Maiden fans had the same idea. I guess this is a chain and we were by no means drunk (yet) but this place had a great standard burger which I had while my wife had a beer. And it had table service.
To my amazement, it was still open after the concert and we once again, this time a bit tipsy and tired from the incredible concert but had their hot dog. It was this hot dog that was so simple, yet so delicious with it's lightly buttered and toasted bun, it's just that extra step that was so good, I was craving hot dogs for weeks afterward. If you're in the area, they serve standard diner fare at a good price with nice service and alcohol and there's really no reason not to stop in if...
Read moreI don’t expect great food when I am ordering at 2 a.m but wow. This place was recommended to us and someone said it had “sick pizza”. The pizza was clearly terminally sick. As I picked up each slice it was clear the pizza had no structural integrity as it was immediately subjected to the the slightest forces of gravity and collapsed into an unrecognizable pile of “food”. As I dug into the gigantic pile of cheese I found dozens(literally) of pieces of pepperoni often clumped together as though they embraced each other before an avalanche of what one can only assume was cheese sealed their fate but even the carcasses of dozens of pepperonis could not stop the onslaught of the oily substance from destroying the base of the pizza.
The crust was tolerable. The wings were good. One of the dishes was purportedly garlic bread but my wife and I rate that four...
Read morePoutine is one of the first things that comes to mind when traveling to Quebec. We found this place through Google. The restaurant wasn’t busy when we visited. We tried the poutine with a mix of pork, beef, and roasted beef. To be honest, the poutine was just average. The meat tasted a bit raw, and there were no sauces or extra flavor to make it better. Having tried poutine from other places in Quebec, this one felt quite flat. There were plenty of cheese curds, but that didn’t really help. Not recommended, though you can give it a try if you want a different taste. The staff were kind and helpful in explaining things, even though we weren’t very good in French. Parking is available on...
