Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and had lunch twice at the restaurant. Food wasn't that great and was exceptionally expensive.
1st time we had the chef special. It was described as octopus over a salad. We assumed grilled octopus, but when it came out it was basically deep fried calimari over a salad. There was no sauce for the calamari and the salad had no dressing. It was so dry and flavour less, the more shocking thing was that they charged $45 for this, unbelievable.
On our last day we decided to try lunch 1 more time. My wife went for the all you can eat savoury crepes and I got the confit duck. They couldn't get the eggs right on her savoury crepe. Both times the eggs were practically raw. My duck although cooked well inside, the skin was not crisped up in any fashion. Just flabby skin left on. We left again feeling completely underwhelmed.
They also do something very odd with wine/drink list. There is none on the table. After you ask for the list they bring out a tablet that displays everything. Odd thing is that they make it seem as if it is a chore to bring it out. They keep asking what kind of wine you want first. How is anyone supposed to know without seeing a list first? If you're not going to bring the tablet to the table at the very least just print a simple list and leave it with the menu.
Finally, I want to add that they have a very lovely patio space outside that is completely unused. They have perhaps 4 or 5 small tables for 2 that are used outside adjacent to the restaurant. But right below that, down a few flights of stairs they have an entire patio space completely unused. You ask to eat outside and they tell you there's no space all the tables are taken. It is completely...
Read moreWe loved the restaurant, me and my girlfriend tried both breakfast and lunch, and neither failed our expectations. Just keep in mind for lunch to wait a hour before eating, as we had to wait a long time before we were served our food, even though we were the only ones at the restaurant by that time, but the food was definitely worth the time. All waiters were friendly bilingual, and always asked if everything was good. As recommendations for the waiters, you have to serve the dishes on the right of the client, not on random spots of the table, and please don't bend while you have a big tray on one hand, as it is more easier to spill everything as accidents can happen, as someone can bump into you! Also please serve children and ladies first, then the gentleman after. Decor could use some additions that don't bring too much discomfort around, but definitely felt...
Read moreMy 4 yo son and I attended the Mother’s Day brunch this morning and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Quebec City having lived here for 4 years. The service, the food and the atmosphere were all exceptional. You can tell the staff care deeply about the guest experience and they spared no detail in ensuring all the families attending felt the love and warmth they deserve on such an important occasion. It's worth noting that I stayed at Le Bonne Entente 5 years ago while I was pregnant and the rooms, property and facilities (like the games room and happy hour) were outstanding and consistent with our experience at MC Lounge. I highly recommend tourists and residents try this establishment and expect you won't be disappointed. I hope to make this Mother's Day brunch an annual tradition and will be careful to watch for other occasions as well....
