I had the WORST customer experience from this establishment today. I called to place an order and when prompted with a question about ingredients I was handed off to another employee. When I spoke to this other employee I inquired as to what the ingredients were in the Tofu Stir Fry. With some hesitation she provided me with an answer. I asked if it was possible to switch out the rice for noodles. Her response (which came across as being quite snotty) was no. There were no other options given just dead air. Then I asked if there were any Stir Fry options which came with noodles to which she answered with the Kwangtung Stir Fry which has a variety of meat in the ingredients. I then asked if there were any vegetarian options for a Stir Fry with noodles to which her response was still no. If I were working behind that counter I would have offered the Kwangtung with Tofu as an option. She did not. She was very discourteous and I just became flustered, knowing my husband would be there to pick up the food shortly on his way home from work, that I just ordered two Combo No. 3's (I doubled his order) because I didn't know what else to do at that point.
Thank you for a meal that I won't eat! Great...
Read moreHoC is a 'goto' for us, as there are limited take away in the area. It was delicious when first opened. At the time of writing, quality has suffered slightly. There are three things I have noticed. First is that the fried rice is a bit mushy. Second, the egg rolls are overly greasy. Finally, I can taste faint curry in vegetables and rice which has never happened before but appeared in the last two orders (within a month at time of writing). As it is not the owners main restaurant, management may be slipping. We will continue to go there, but perhaps not quite as often. Edit: During Covid, the staff have been great. Food quality has improved, but not yet at 5* quality for price.
Edit: Quality has been better as we ordered in December and January 2025. As with most places, there has been a reduction in quantity. One less chicken ball, one less rib, etc. Will...
Read moreI've waited a while to write this review to test out our theory... our theory is this - if you order on the weekend, or the days that the restaurant expects to be busy, the quality of the food is MUCH better than if you order on a Tuesday or Wednesday... the slower days. We think our theory is correct. We almost always get the Kwangtung Chow Mein; On a good day, the meal is perfect and so delicious, with crispy-ish noodles, the perfect amount of sauce, and tender crisp stir fried vegetables. On the off days however, the noodles are soggy-mushy and over sauced, as are the veggies, and it's just meh. With a $19 price tag, the meal should always be really good, unfortunately there's just no...
