I feel so sorry to share this review bcz I never thought I would face a negative situation here. I won’t go over the food review bcz regardless it’s good or bad we always go there as it’s just opposite to my apartment. So, last night me and my friend. Total 4 of us went around 10pm and ordered 4 Dudh Patti chae. We recently liked the tea here so we have been going just for the chae last couple of times . When I order I specifically ALWAYS mention dudh patti and no masala. In fact I say that so many times so that there is no error in the order. Last nigh when we went we made the same order- Dudh Patti with no masala. It took them 15-20 mins to prepare. Normally that’s how long we wait for it but we don’t mind the wait. When we received the order as it was late we went to our car and wanted to have it on the way . When we opened the lid it smelled like elaichi and none of us would have it . Bcz we were still outside in the car we went inside to say that there was an error and we ordered just Dudh Patti without any masala. To our surprise the girl at the till /counter started making a face and arguing that we ordered with less cardamom (which we DID NOT) . She even said NO I remember last time you ordered With less cardamom/elaichi. I was like no I did not bcz I never have tea with cardamom. Instead of trying to handle the situation and provide a solution she kept arguing. I think it really does not matter what we ordered last time . So to bring that reference was very silly bcz they should obviously make the order based on the order made today. Again I did not even mention less cardamom in any of my ordered. She must have mixed up with another customer. I even explained where we come from we do not have tea with masala. So they should tell us in the beginning if they cannot make it without masala. But the fact she kept blaming me and making an annoying face was so rude. At this point my friend had to speak and ask why she is arguing as we are not happy with our order. She should replace it. After that she asked us-again not in a good way- ok so do you want me to replace it? I said yes if you can please. Then they replaced. I worked in restaurants well and anytime a customer had a complain I was trained to take the food back and make a new one or replace it without any questions. This incident made us so upset bcz we always go there for food, tea, to buy sweets every now and then. However we might not go back even though it’s so close after this. She fought over a simple tea and how much did she want to save from that order? Now you will lose a loyal customer who spends a lot more than what that tea was worth for. Didn’t expect that and if they don’t change their behaviour and service when they deal with a dissatisfied customer then they will keep losing more...
Read moreIt appears to be a clean restaurant pretty modern and I like that they have Indian sweets. I got to try their orange laddu and I thought it was nice and soft, mild and flavorful and sweet.. just to my liking.
I ordered their Daal Makhni, It was probably some of the best daal makhni I've ever had. I've had it from plenty of restaurants and it's already one of my favorite dishes. Both dishes I ordered were medium spice. I noticed the daal was detectable spice that crept up if you had a lot, whereas in the paneer dish it was not detectably spicy really.
So the paneer I got was their paneer lababdar, it was sweet like some butter chicken you might get and full of flavor. I really really liked it. It was probably my highlight dish.
I got some rice from them which was not stuck together or clumpy it wasn't overly oily and it wasn't dry. Seems simple but lots of places. I've been to have subpar rice. These guys had good rice which I think should be acknowledged.
The only thing I disliked was the kheer. I found it didn't really have any sweetness to it at all, and it was a bit soupy. I normally prefer things to be less sweet but this was barely even noticeable. I love kheer and I've had several different iterations of kheer which I enjoy, this wasn't one of them. Too bland for me. Enjoy the raisins and nuts it contained, but not enough to make the dish a thumbs up.
Overall I don't think I should deduct any major points from their performance based on the kheer, I'd still give them a solid 4.5 stars. I would definitely go back, and I would like to try their Afghani dishes and biryani. Saw some great reviews on here and had to see what the hype was about. It's well-deserved. Keep up the...
Read moreThe only thing I came to your place was to get a box of sweets? Seriously? 2 pounds for 27 bucks? And I am handed out with a carry box?? Why? I didn’t ask for a bag, did I ? I have been buying out from your place for over a year, why has it to be a hit and a miss? I did ask for two gulaab jamun’s to be added in my order and when I looked at the tray (appearance) of gulaab jamum during the order, it did appear to be dry/hard(dried) with the visual Looks, and upon tasting them at home I can taste it being hard with the first bite. Petha? Why has it it be a hit and miss? Can I get the worth of my trip? Value ? I am fine with the price and the cost but give the worth dude? Don’t rip it off with dried pieces? You know what I mean? Why did I come to your place? Just to get some sweets and get a bad taste in the mouth ! Buh!!! Your milk cake is burned and does taste bitter btw.. If some pieces of petha turned out to be sugar cubes then you throw them not. Not include them a part of the order, moreover I am not a competitor or an owner of another Indian place, I am just a consumer who enjoyed sweets from your place and this is very disappointing. And I took my time (about 3 months) before adding this review.. get your ducks in a row buddy if you...
