Where to start...actually took the time to plan ahead and make a reservation seeing as to how this time of year gets everyone out and about, made a reservation for a party of 5 at 18:30’on a Friday night. Granted we got there a WHOLE 3 minutes late considering that the parking is near impossible, we were told that our table wasn’t ready just yet. The owner suggested we have a drink at the bar as we were waiting. So we make our way to the bar only to be sent back to the entrance due to the fact that there was norm place whatsoever at the bar. I spotted 4 empty tables and proposed to owner (who was hosting at the time) that we be seated at a corner table for 4 and just have a chair added to the extremity of the table and it would be no bother at all seeing as to how we were 4 adults and 1 child so no problem adding someone at the edge. The owner insisted that the tables were reserved. As he walks away we are greater by the manager who then proceeds to seat us at the table behind the greeting desk. We are seated at 19 o’clock and had to ask for the menus when the waitress came to see if we were ready to order. Our waitress was great, nice, efficient and so on, but unfortunately for her, our overall experience put her aside. As the time went by we could tell that we were being rushed to free up a table. Music kept getting louder and louder and management seemed to be circling the tables were people weren’t ordering anymore. To our great great surprise we were then asked, as soon as our bill was paid might I add, we were asked if we were going to order anything else to which we answered “No, you?” Knowing full well what was being insinuated by ghat question. The manager followed with the witty response of “Yes I will take an empty table”. WOW 400$ later, please leave! Obviously appalled by his response we tell him that we will stay until we were done and just about ready to go only to then be told that this was unacceptable. Granted things got a little heated and voices were raised, we were then threatened to be kicked out by the cops. OUCH...I must say...not at all the best customer service especially coming from a restaurant that seems itself as “upscale”!! As we walk out we are surprised by the line up at “coat check” which I failed to mention, we were obliged to leave our coats as. I kindly suggested that due to the fact that we were literally being kicked out, we would appreciate it if they fetched our coats and that it was unacceptable for us to be waiting this lineup, after all, it was a dire situation that we left the table...the least they could do is this. Nope...not interested...after some loud exchanges the owner finally caved and fetched our coats...about time. Cherry on the sundae, he ends the evening by apologizing for his managers behaviour...he must have been having a bad night. WOW a bad night?? Probably because he is such a pompas, arrogant, douche that should not be in the restaurant business. Customer service is what keeps the doors open buddy in case you’re new at this. Needless to say, this was our third time here and we will most definitely not be going back or...
Read moreThis was our second time to Sofia in Rosemere. To those in charge. it is not only important to have the right recipe for dishes. But you have to also have the right recipe when training your staff. It was my moms 60th birthday and my parents 40th anniversary. When we arrived I had a 630 reservation. Then they tried to play a quick one on us and told us we reserved for 7pm.... hey don't you know we get confirmation emails with the time? So I figured ok thats fine but then when we were only seated at 720!!!!! best believe the patience was starting to run thin. The waitress then circled us and made us feel like we were pressured to order ASAP. My husband took the waitress aside and explained to her that it was his mother in laws bday and asked for a candle on her desert. Low and behold my mom got no Candle. I approached the waitress and she said that it was no problem we would send one out. I told her it wasn't necessary and that the moment had passed. She apologized and told me we wouldn't be charged. the waitress shortly left after that and our new waitress approached us with a bill and the end of our meal and asked how we would like our additions. Thats when I got upset I had told our waitress from the beginning that it would be all one bill and that we would take care of it. Also they charged us my moms desert when they told us they wouldn't have. So now we are in this awkward moment my parents wanting to pay and we having to argue that we will pay. So my smooth plan to treat my parents out on this nice occasion became a super frustrating evening. Guys train your staff. good food isn't the...
Read moreVery disappointed. In my opinion, Sofia is overrated. The prices are inflated for what you get. Reservations were made for a party of four exactly one week prior to the event. When I asked to reserve on the terrace, I was informed they don't reserve tables on the terrace. I asked if I could bring a birthday cake, and was told it wasn't permitted. My party arrived on the reserved date and time. When I asked for a table on the terrace, the hostess said I had to specify a reservation for the terrace. If my guests had not requested to dine at this venue, I would've left on the spot. After being seated, we ordered our meals. I had the Calabrese pizza... I have much spicier and tastier Calabrese salami at home! After finishing the main meal, the waitress asked if we wanted the dessert menu which we did. About 15 minutes later, she asked a second time. Here I have to say the staff was not that busy. The restaurant was at half capacity. For dessert, two of us ordered the cannoli. Five minutes later, the waitress informed us they didn't have any more. I've worked in a restaurant in my much younger days. We made sure to know what was available and if it could be sold out so we could inform the clientele to have a second choice ready. I passed on dessert. Now while this was happening, a table on the terrace had a cake brought out. It was obviously not a cake from the restaurant. I waited over 3 weeks to be calm enough to write this review... I'm still getting steamed over this place. Bottom line, I will not return nor recommend this establishment. BTW a pitcher of sangria cost over twice the...
