We were in Sackville for a few hours while our daughter was swimming at the local university pool. We were looking for a place to have a couple of beers to kill some time. After trying one place that was closed for renovations, we stumbled upon The Painted Pony. Don't let the exterior fool you; when you walk in, the decor is classy for what I'd consider a pub. We had already eaten, so we were only looking for drinks. We opted to sit at the bar. The bartender asked us what we'd like for drinks. I'm a stout drinker, and unfortunately, they don't carry stout beer, but he recommended a local New Brunswick brewer's beer, which was a darker red beer. The bartender was kind and witty. He'd often engage in conversation with us while still serving customers and thanking everyone as they left the pub. As it turns out, he is part owner of the Painted Pony. He mentioned that all food is prepared on site and all deserts are made in-house and they have a company that makes a special ice cream for them. Next time we are in the Sackville NB area, we'll be sure to stop in again for food.

Went to The Painted Pony Bar & Grill for dinner last night. Best choice we have made this far on our trip down east. Paul, the GM met us at the door, got our drinks right away and gave us a short history of the building. Fascinating. Laura was over to take our orders. Paul came over to top up my martini and laugh with us. Food came out in good time and boy, it was delicious! I had seafood linguine and hubby had chicken nachos. The chef knows how to cook seafood and the tomato sauce was homemade. I used some of the nacho chips to get every last bit of sauce it was that good. If you’re in Sackville, make sure you get to the Painted Pony. You will not be disappointed.

I was blown away when I walked inside, not what I expected when I googled places to eat near Sackville. I had the hamburger soups of the day and Cobb salad. Both incredibly delicious. Service and atmosphere were outstanding. I highly recommend you try this place if you're passing by or through Sackville, NB.

My family and I went here and have to say the food was bland. I had a breakfast sandwich between French toast, it was French toast , meat , some cheese - no sauce no spices sooo dry; it was hard to eat. I was really thrown off by the lack of spices or the restaurants twist on it but it was just the ingredients smacked together(oh yeah no syrup either ). My partner had a steak sandwich which was odd how it was heated, very hot on spots and cold on other spots? Odd for a steak to be like that. The thing that really annoyed us was the waiter was being friendly with our 7 year old saying she can accommodate his ideas and encouraged it looking at us parents as if it was no problem ( some restaurants do this). His meal came with fries but he wanted a salad, he got a salad but we had to pay full price for a side salad and didn't get the fries... So we paid full price , so no subsutite but yet we didn't get the fries. He asked for black olives on the salad and the waiter made it seem like no worries they got him covered , extra 2 bucks for 3 black olives thrown on! Half the stuff we ordered rang in as other food , they have been opened for years now and they don't have menu items on the receipt seems sketchy. She offered him desert but I vitoed it since I asked if it was extra. The food quality is bland and feels like it came from a fridge. The way the waiter interacted with our son and then tacked on so many extra costs is unacceptable; like most waiters if it's not a subtistute then mention that and mention all costs upfront don't hide them and make it seem like you're doing us a favor or being nice to our son....

My family went for supper, our server forgot some of our order, the food was cool, we were not asked if we wanted anything to drink, we did have one glass of water, but after waiting 45 mins for our cold food, the water was gone. I did get to order a pop, which was very watered down. I tried numerous times to get the attention of our server to let her know they might need to change out the fountain pop because it tasted watery, but I couldn't get her or anyone else. When one person on our party finally got her attention she only attended to that one person. I asked for ketchup for my fries, she slammed it down on the table right under my chin without saying anything. Our drinks were not refilled or even asked to be refilled. The garlic cheese bread tasted like a burnt candle, with soot like smoky residue on it. I'm not sure if something caught on fire beside it or not. The nachos were cold, and the chicken on it was so dry we couldn't choke it down. The server came once to ask atone end of our large table how things were, before I could say the nachos were not edible, she said great I'm glad you are enjoying everything. Funny thing was not one person in my group said anything. So we decided as a group not to tip. The server was so upset she slammed the debit machine down and became very ignorant. So..I do not recommend this restaurant. Service was the worst I've ever experienced and the food...

Horrible service on Jan 25/2025 around 4:30-5pm, rude, didn't ask or give refills, asked for lemon for our water and got moldy lemons... diet Pepsi ran out of syrup so it was watered down... we had a large group (9), and waited for 30 mins to just take our order, then another hour and a half (!) to get our food! Was not expecting to be there for two and a half hours... many orders missed at our table and when we simply reminded the waitress about them, she would get rude about it. All the food we ordered had at least something wrong with it... this was our first time here, thought we would go out to a nice restaurant, atmosphere was nice but what mattered (service and food) was far from it... worst experience we have ever had.. first time in my life I didn't leave a tip! I do not recommend the Sackville location, also when the waitress grabbed the debit machine angrily everytime we didn't leave a tip (5 different payers), then went over to the other waitress and started talking about us, laughing and making gestures as we walked out, I hope you learn from this experience.. the food wasn't your fault but if you AT LEAST tried to be a good server to us, accommodating us, like a server should! We all would've...
