Aux 3 Copains — Restaurant in Saint-Donat

In my opinion this restaurant is ridiculously understaffed. In the evenings there are too many customers and you have to make reservation at least an hour before in order to get in. I saw only three waitresses serving maybe 25-30 tables (didn’t count). We made reservation, but no one greets you at the entrance. They are all too busy, people are everywhere. Finally, they showed us a table, but didn’t give menus. We waited for maybe 5 minutes and no one came to us. Then we finally caught one person and asked to bring us the menus. There was another wait of maybe 10 minutes until one waitress finally came to take our order. We waited for almost an hour to get our food. During the wait, no one offered us to bring water or bread or anything else. When we asked another waitress to bring us water, then we got it without anything else. Food was plain and nothing special, I don’t know why they have so many customers. It also seemed to me that waitresses were much more welcoming and attentive to French customers rather than English speaking customers. Our waitress was much nicer to people (French speaking) that were sitting right next to us. We had to ask other people to bring or get anything. Definitely do not recommend and will not...

Great decors. Good menu selection, food well presented and good portions. However, when our kids were ready for dessert, we were never offered a selection (or even told what the dessert was before brining it). It's not a matter of language, I'm perfectly fluent and communicated in french with the waitress the whole time. The waitress just showed up at our table with 2 bowls of ice cream... and that was it. I don't know if it's standard practice, or how the kid's menu is (in which case... perhaps it'd be a good idea to write it on the menu??? in case the kid(s) is/are lactose intolerant) but it would've been nice to...

It is a good proposition for whole families, groups of friends or couples. You can eat the whole dinner or something sweet, have a coffee or a drink. The food is good and tasty and the lighting provides a nice atmosphere. We popped in for lunch and we enjoyed everything, especially the vegetable soup. The restaurant menu is displayed outside in front of the entrance, so we know what to order here. There is enough space, and in summer the tables are also set outside We can leave the car in a nearby larger parking lot. Nice service will make us come back...
