Sushi Izumi — Restaurant in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

Me and my wife were at Sushi Izumi on July 15.2022 at 5:15 PM.

Place was obviously empty. we were seated in front of the windows - gray bench - comfortable.

Cleanliness: 2 / 5 The paper curtain glued to ceiling had stains and a lot of dust and was not nice to look at.

Comfort: 2 / 5 The air conditioning somehow was not able to reach that location front of the restaurant, so it was very, very hot. Walking in the restaurant to go to bathroom was nice (temperature was nice). There is definitely a problem on that end.

Service: 4 / 5 Was not the best, but it was nice. Far from excellent.

Food Quality: 2 / 5 The wrong
pork ribs were dry and almost impossible to eat. These have been cooked for a very long time.. Was just not edible. Octopus Sashimi: wrong...tasteless , no salt, improperly cooked. Eel sushi: eel quality has a muddy taste. just increasing quality on that would be awesome.

The Good Maki were rolled nicely and generally enjoyable. Amount of rice was great. Oil Fish "Escolar" to my surprise was the star. You just need to be careful not to order too many ;) Beef Ribs, awesome, tender, juicy for a sushi place...

Had a long day at work so i took a nap after work. Kinda late to go out and was kinda not in the mood to try to come up by myself after a nap so i ordered a delivery-

I have a quite high standard when it comes to rice- its something I ate pretty much every single day in my entire life, as I come from a culture where rice is main part of the meal.

Ever since I moved to Canada, I've tried many sushi places to try, and I've noticed that many places face similar flaws- Inconsistency in cooking the rice. Even when I try sushi at the same place, some days rice is good, but other days it will be chewy (too much water), or too dry (not enough water).

Maybe it was one of those days, I found the rice a little bit dry here today. It woulda been 3 stars but the combo dish came with a Inari sushi. Not something I found too common to be added to as part of a combo sushi set so I thought that was quite nice, as well as making me homesick to see my mom as she made me best Inari sushi for me for school trips...

I went there with my girlfriend. It was our first time visiting Canada. Because we love sushi we decided to try dinner time. When arrived they make us sit on a nice table but unfortunately it was not properly clean. The servers have the attitude. When my wife ask for water with ice he looked and take the glass without saying anything and did not come back (till food came. After 20 minutes) We decided to eat and not order anything else as we’re not happy with service we decide to leave and the server complains why we are putting 18% tip!? I told him does he think he deserve it? After serving us like that? He gave an attitude that if we won’t put more. He have to put out from his pocket. Guess what?! So do I! And get this horrible service.
