Walked in at 5:30 during a busy time and asked for seating on the back patioâwhich I didnât even know existed until I showed up. Itâs a cool, hidden patio out back, fenced in for privacy, which I loved.
My partner and I started off with the spinach dip and the BBQ chicken nachos (Thursdays are buy one app, get one 50% off). It was my first time here, and unfortunately, I was so hungry that we dove in and cleaned both plates before I could even get a photo. The spinach dip with toasted baguette pieces was absolutely incredibleâI wish more places served it this way. The nachos were also great; they were made with kettle chips, which added a unique flavor and officially stole my heart. 10/10 appetizers.
Now onto the mains: I had the Smokehouse Burger with a Caesar salad. I wasnât the biggest fan of the burger, but that could just be personal preference. I did love the bacon and the candied jalapeños, but the patty itself was a bit bland. If Iâm not mistaken, it was a frozen pattyâbut Iâm not docking too many points for that alone. The Caesar salad was a pleasant surprise, made with kale and spinach, real bacon (always bonus points), parmesan cheese, avocado, and croutons. The flavor was solid, and I liked the combination, though it may not be for everyone. $23 for the burger and a $5 add-on for the salad.
My partner said the chicken burger tasted fantastic but was definitely messy and hard to eat (sheâs 4â11â, so that may have been a her problem). The fries were okay, but the turkey gravy was very thin and overly salty for herâsheâs usually a gravy fiend, so that was surprising.
They had a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, which I always give bonus points for. Our server was great, and even during a busy evening, the food came out promptly.
A little pricey, but Iâll be back for the appetizers alone. Also need to try that Nashville hot chicken...
Read moreMy main issue is with the shockingly high price for what I received. $30 for a very ordinary single burger and a small handful of sweet potato fries. The photo you see is what landed on my plate. The only thing I did was place the top bun on and dip exactly one fry. The fries were an additional $5 up-charge. Iâll never understand the sky-high cost for sweet potato fries. The $24 house burger already comes with regular fries. So you pay an extra $5 to âupgradeâ, and then they majorly decrease the amount of fries you get. The small bit of ONION was a $1 up-charge according to the menu, but ended up being $1.25 when the bill was brought to me (with no apology or explanation from the wait staff as to the price discrepancy). Adding bacon was a $3 up-charge. All said; exactly what you see in this picture was $30 before tax and tip. This is elite fine dining pricing for below average pub fare. I added one drink off the happy hour menu and I was out the door for $42.48, and thatâs without any tax!!! (This review is being written during the nationwide âtax holidayâ). So this would have been over $50 normally. This. Is. Insane. I feel like a fool for even dining here.
On top of this, the service was poor and downright odd. The waitress started by saying âyou canât get foodâ. Our party of four looked at her in confusion, and I responded with âOh? The kitchen is closed?â She said âno, I just want your drinksâ.
I could go on, but suffice to say I will not return here while visiting Saint John...
Read moreThis is a nice Pub. We ended up coming here because we wanted to go to another well known Pub and restaurant just around the corner but it was packed full and other people already waiting. We needed to eat before the show, so we couldn't wait much longer. We were lucky to get a high table for 3. They got busy real fast after we were seated. The dining area seemed relatively clean. The service was quick, polite, and efficient. We were served drinks right away and our meals arrived shortly after ordering them. A friend and I split the BBQ Chicken Nachos plate (full) and another friend had the PB&J Burger plate (daily special). With drinks, the bill was pretty high but the food is reasonably priced. Expect to pay about $30 per person. The food was good. We expected the "Full" Nachos plate to be a bit bigger but it was enough for 2. Though it tasted okay, I got a few pieces of chicken that were cold and they put too much green onion on the plate. The friend I split the plate with said the same about the green onions. Our other friend says the burger was delicious. I trust his taste buds. He seemed to enjoy it very much. I would visit this place, again, if I was in the region for awhile. I would like to try a couple items off their menu. This was a...
