Great Service and Classic Italian Food
The place is absolutely perfect for a date night dinner or if you're craving classic Italian dishes expertly prepared. We got a pasta, pizza, and chicken for our mains; a veggie and bread appetizer, and several drinks. Every dish looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. The appetizers are a bit small if you plan to share with the table but the mains are very well proportioned. I also love that they have pizza which is an easy sell when bringing kids to a nice place. It is on the pricier side for the area (still only about 200 CAD for a family of 4) but well worth the extra $.
Our server was very kind to our kids and did her absolute best to serve us, even though it was clear she was over sat with too many tables. I don't know if someone didn't show or if they just have too few servers hired, but the place was slammed and every server was rushing between clearly waiting ppl. Luckily for us, Daya (I hope I got her name right) kept checking on us and made sure we had drinks and everything we needed. I really appreciated her bc she kept bringing me more ice water; the room was a little too warm and I was dying 🥵😆. In short, she really saved the experience for me.
Important Notes: Definitely make a reservation. I doubt you will get seated without one, especially on the weekends.
This is a nicer establishment and is not designed for family dining. Our kids loved the food, but we were the only table with kids. They have high chairs, but there are no kids' meals or kids' entertainment (and I didn't see a changing table in the bathroom). The place is clearly geared for the date-night or after-work cocktails crowd. We like to let our kids practice fancy dining, and our server was really kind to them.
The place is disabled and wheelchair accommodating. Everything is on one floor, so there are no stairs, and the bathrooms are single-room, all-gender bathrooms that will easily fit a wheelchair. However, the place is crowded and the tables are placed tightly together. It might be hard to navigate between them. There are no disabled parking spots next to the restaurant.
It's paid street parking, so you should plan on extra time to find parking and walk to the restaurant. There are also several paid lots nearish...
Read moreFirst of all the place has really nice decor and the staff was very welcoming and the service was really top tier! But the food was next level!
I read over the menu tonight while visiting from out of town with some dear friends and honestly was having the hardest time deciding. I really wanted a pizza that are hand formed and dressed with house made ingredients, but I also wanted a seafood spaghetti dish that sounded really awesome but I couldn’t decide. So I asked our server if I could have the seafood dish as a pizza instead of spaghetti and she said she would ask the chef.
A minute later the chef approached the table and said that she probably could do it but the oven would destroy the scallops and shrimp and made some delightful recommendations of the house made fennel sausage on white sauce pizza with the scallops and shrimp cooked in garlic in a pan and then added to the pizza as it came out of the oven. “Brilliant” I thought and said yes to her amazing suggestions. In just a little while, chef delivered her masterpiece to the table and just look at the pic! This is a creation to behold! This is culinary art at its finest to look at and to taste?! Truly delicious and amazing. The scallops were like tiny white tender and sweet, perfectly cooked meat cookies, paired with shrimp and sausage and mozzarella cheese on a rich and creamy white sauce topped hand thrown pizza.
I’d like to tell you that this dish, this chef, this atmosphere and this place has gotten me excited to find and post about amazing food places after a couple years of silence! Thank you St John, thank you Executive Chef, Michelle Hooton and thanks to the wonderful staff and friends who made the experience totally rich!
I got a Custom made seafood sausage pizza to DIE FOR! But Executive Chef, Michelle Hooton said this won’t happen every time…but have her recommend your next new favorite dish! I hope...
Read moreSadly, the Restaurant we valued so much has done itself in. Friday evening, July 30, 2021 a 7:45pm dinner reservation to celebrate a family birthday and we were kicked out. Yes, you are reading me right. We were indeed kicked out. Not for any misbehavior on our part mind you. We had in fact just finished a lovely meal served by a fantastic waiter. We were ready to have a dessert and coffee or tea. Our waiter came to our table and said he was sorry we could not stay any longer because the time limit for this table had run out, but he could give us our desserts to take home with us. I beg your pardon! What did you just say? We have to leave? Yes, because table time has run out and it is needed for someone else to come in. No one in any way informed us of such circumstances. To put it bluntly, it was embarrassing. We had to quickly pay up and leave. If such was the circumstances we should have been informed when the reservation was being made. This is no way to run a business or treat customers. Does that restaurant expect us to go back? I would think not. But the fact is we have gift cards given us by our adult children which are still valid. I think we are owed an apology from this establishment.
I now wish to make some further comments re the above: The Owners contacted me(us) about the above experience. And I am very happy to say it was a very positive contact. Through this contact we learned that our not so good situation resulted from a gap in communication. Such can happen to anyone. We have again dined at Italianbynight and with great satisfaction. It is a very favorite restaurant for us and we will continue to book our reservations there when we decide to dine out. For this we are very pleased and offer them our sincere...
