Tourist scam alert!!! I usually try to share my worst experiences publicly to make people aware and to avoid the same situation like us. We went to this restaurant for dinner after traveling the entire day around Quebec City and before heading back to our hotel. We arrived at 7pm for dinner with the whole family. Got seated after waiting for about 20 minutes. Since none of us barely speak any French, we ordered our food in English with the server and we clearly marked on the menu on exactly what we wanted. The appetizers came in after another 20 mins. Guess what they brought in the wrong order. We ordered 2 French onion soups and 1 vegetable soup as appetizers. They brought in 3 plates of onion rings!! Okay we accepted the fact that the server did not understand English properly and made a mistake I mean honest mistake. She went back and after 10 mins brought in the correct order for appetizers although the vegetable soup was cold. Since we were starving we didn't complain much and finished eating. The manager came down to double check the order for main courses to make sure we are all on the same page (this happened after an hour when the server initially took the entire order including main courses). Having finishing off our appetizers we waited for an hour for the main course to be served. In the meantime I asked the server if we can get some bread since we are all very hungry after a long day. She brought in some bread and few minutes later gave us a plate of nachos saying it is on the house aka complimentary (around 8:45pm). The main dinner came at 9pm and by the time we finished it was around 9:30 when everyone left from the restaurant. The next thing that happened was horrible. The bill came and it showed that they charged us for the complimentary nachos. I asked the server why is she charging us, her answer was the manager that gave you the offer has left and the current manager in charge does not want to offer you that. I asked her to call the manager as we never ordered the nachos and we only had it because she told us it was complimentary since they kept us waiting for 1.5 hours just for the initial appetizers. The manager showed up and said sorry we don't offer free food as if we are pledging for one. We said we didn't ask for free food and that the server told it was complimentary since they made us waste over 2 hours now. The server infront of the manager was like Sir you ordered the nachos (this time her English sounded 100% proper and made it clear to us she was pretending the entire time). And my family backed me up saying she was lying upfront. This is absolutely disgusting and disgraceful service and we think they tried to scam us intentionally after everyone left knowing the fact that we were tourists. So anyone planning to visit here be very careful of the servers if you are not speaking French or if not local. Food we would give 4/10 service 0/10. Not sure how they have 4.1...
Read moreLe Marie Beaupré is a hidden treasure that truly deserves to be discovered and celebrated. Our recent visit to this restaurant was nothing short of magical, and I can't help but share the extraordinary experience we had.
From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in an atmosphere that was nothing short of electric. The restaurant exuded liveliness and warmth, striking the perfect balance between an energetic vibe and a cozy ambiance. The soft, ambient lighting created an inviting and intimate setting that immediately put us at ease. It was evident that Le Marie Beaupré takes great care in crafting an environment where diners can relax and enjoy their evening to the fullest.
The icing on the cake, or rather, the soundtrack to our evening, was the fantastic music playing in the background. The playlist seemed to have been curated with utmost precision, offering a delightful mix of jazz and contemporary tunes. It provided the ideal backdrop to our evening, adding to the overall sense of enjoyment and relaxation.
Now, let's talk about the pièce de résistance - the food. We decided to go for the Penne aux Crevettes, and it was a choice we would not regret. The dish was a symphony of flavors and textures. The penne pasta was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of bite, and the shrimp were incredibly succulent. What truly impressed us was the sauce – creamy, rich, and exquisitely balanced. The herbs sprinkled generously on top added a fragrant note that elevated the dish even further. Each forkful was an explosion of taste, and we couldn't help but savor each bite.
Yet, what made our evening truly outstanding was the exceptional service provided by our waitress, Aariaan. Her warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel like valued guests from the moment we arrived. Aariaan's knowledge of the menu was impressive, and her recommendations were spot-on. She guided us through our culinary journey with grace and professionalism, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect. Her attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile left a lasting impression.
In summary, Le Marie Beaupré is not just a restaurant; it's an extraordinary culinary destination that deserves all the praise it receives. From its vibrant ambiance and carefully selected music to the delectable cuisine and the exceptional service provided by Aariaan, every element of our evening was flawless. If you're searching for a place where every moment is a delightful experience for your senses, do not miss Le Marie Beaupré. It's a culinary journey you'll cherish, and we can't wait to...
Read moreWorst Dining Experience - Rude Service & Discrimination Against English Speakers
My recent visit to this restaurant was by far the worst dining experience I’ve ever had, and I would NOT recommend it, especially if you’re an English-speaking tourist.
After a full-day tour of Beaupré, we decided to try this restaurant because it was busy and seemed promising. Unfortunately, what followed was nothing short of a disaster.
First of all, we don’t speak French, but we were there on a food trip. We tried to communicate, but the server barely spoke English, which we understand can happen. We ordered cheese balls for starters, a pitcher of beer, and wanted to wait a bit before ordering our mains. However, the server insisted we order the mains right away, so we felt rushed and ended up ordering in a hurry. After waiting for 30 minutes, they brought out the mains first—no appetizer or beer! When we told the server we’d like the starters first, her response was shockingly rude: “Oh yeah, like they don’t know there’s a reason it’s called starters.”
By this point, our appetite was already ruined. When the pitcher of beer finally arrived, we decided not to have the mains as our dining experience was already completely ruined. Instead of offering to remake the mains, the manager came over in an extremely condescending tone and rudely asked, “So you don’t want the fish?” We explained we didn’t want microwaved food and would’ve preferred it fresh after our drinks. Her response? “Okay, no fish for you.”
The treatment we received after that was appalling. It was clear they had no respect for English speakers and treated us as though we were beneath them. If this restaurant doesn’t want to serve English-speaking tourists, they should put up a sign that says, “No English speakers allowed.” The service was not only rude but blatantly discriminatory.
