Du Quai — Restaurant in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts

This is one of those restaurants where I find it hard to believe that anybody who left a positive review went to the same place.

It is so ugly that the food would have to be not excellent but exquisite to make up for it. It is not even very clean. If you are lucky enough to get any service within 30 min you sat down, expect no more than a few mumbled words, none of them of a polite character.

The mussels I ordered were chewy and were steamed it salt water, not broth (I am still trying to laugh at the fact that they gave me a spoon for it). It came with a side of stale, sad looking, unsalted fries. Scallops are of a more delicate character, but nobody in the kitchen seems to be aware of this. Fried like a pancake, then drenched in sauce. Presentation is what you would expect at an army camp.

The only thing that is stellar and modern at this place are the prices.

The Place advertised fresh Seafood. In the entry there was the Former Fish Shop with empty vitrines and coolers. After getting the Table the waitress informed us what they have Not! no Cod no Haddock no salmon no mussels no fresh Lobster. So nothing fresh. We decide to Take Spaghetti with Seafood (was Frozen before) and consistíng with too much cream. Spaghetti has been warmed up and the Food Taste was awful. We ask the owner why they had no fresh Seafood and She complained of governmental restriction for fishing. Interesting because all other Restaurants in the Gaspé have Not...

I can't say we enjoyed dinner served at this establishment. There was very little taste and very little seafood in the dishes we ordered however the staff were very polite. I would only hope this review prompts the owners to re-evaluate their recipes. I may have expected too much being that I come from a large metropolitan area and have access to excellent seafood restaurants. I would have expected the same or even better being that this establishment is located on the water so to speak. May their business flourish with more attention to...
