Pho Ly - Vietnamese Noodle & Rice House — Restaurant in Salmon Arm

The food is decent but definitely not worth writing home about. I had a craving for a Vietnamese Sub as it's been years since I've had one and this place had a great rating (4.6 at the time of this review), so decided to take my whole family to try it since we were in Salmon Arm.

The service there left a lot to be desired. Perhaps it was because we didn't order any specialty drinks and only asked for water to start but the service went downhill from there. Although the restaurant was quite empty it's still took quite a bit of time to have her come over to our table and take our order. I could go on but that's not the important part.

The food is what you would typically expect but it left a lot to be desired. The flavours didn't really jump out all their than the overabundance of spice and not really in a flavorful manner. The bun of the Vietnamese sub was a decent size but the fixin's where essentially a thin line of beef (or pork for my kids) with pretty much an entire onion, some carrot and very little cilantro. I essentially had to drown the sub in hoisin sauce to give it a little bit of flavour.

Maybe I went on an off-day but it definitely did not impress and I'm not entirely sure that...

My family and I were stopping through and thank goodness we stopped here for dinner. The owner was SOO kind and generous and attentive and we truly had such a memorable experience here. Absolutely delicious food. Although there was no kids pho on the menu he brought us a kids version and even brought us scissors to cut our daughter food up. He was so attentive and checked on us and our meals. He gave my daughter a little balloon and a lollipop and it made her night. She kept saying how yummy the food was and how nice the man was. Arrived late due to snow and we couldn’t drive any further. Stayed at the motel next door. Decided to eat here and checked the internet for time. It closed at 8pm, we hurried over at 7.30. Wonderful service, very friendly, hard to choose menu. It’s rare to find fried tofu anywhere so ordered that with spring rolls. Husband had them too. Daughter chose chicken pho soup. Love the matcha green tea boba. We are - regretfully - leaving first thing tomorrow, had we planned to stay another night we would definitely come here and order different dishes.
