Perry's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Sarnia

I haven't been there for over 15 years, but was in town, and remembered Perry's had great fried fish when I was growing up. Had a craving for something other than fast food...so I stopped in and ordered the special. The lovely lady who runs the shop (Owner, perhaps?) greeted me warmly and went to work immediately preparing my food fresh. I sat in the wooden pew bench and made pleasant small talk with her until the food was ready. I took it out and was salivating by the time I arrived at my lunch spot.

Suffice it to say, the quality of the fish and the taste and freshness was wonderful. Service was top notch. Overall value, for under $7...2 large pieces of fish and fresh cut fries...way better that a fast food value meal.

Small shops like this are hard to find in many cities. I'm glad it's still around and can't wait to...

Dropped in for Halibut and chips w coleslaw. First off the good... Fish cooked while you wait. Halibut piece was adequate and a bit over battered, but cooked perfectly and was hot and flakey. However although requested, no tartar sauce was in the take out bag :(. The chips (fries) were in a word: terrible! Tasted like fries warmed up from the fridge the night before. Shriveled and tasteless. Fries should be crispy and hot on the outside with a thick white tenderness inside. And who doesn't salt their fries out of the fryer before serving? Fries tasted old. The creamy coleslaw ($2) was good, but served in a tiny condiment container. Overall not great...

Placed a large order, including two specials that we were told included Haddock, whitefish, and fries. We were NOT told that the special ALSO included shrimp. So imagine my surprise when i opened the container to find my meal covered in shrimp. I have a shellfish allergy. It was absolutely ridiculous and DANGEROUS that this wasn't mentioned. I've been coming here for basically my entire life. Between this and decreasing quality with increasing prices (as mentioned in a prior review), you have literally lost (and could have hospitalized) a lifelong...
