Back Street Deli — Restaurant in Saskatoon

It was ok... I have heard alot of hype and was very excited to try it. Stopped in with my wife, she had the turkey apple swiss I had the pulled pork and we shared an Italiano... with two sides of red beans and rice.

The turkey apple was good.. nothing different or special than you would get at any decent deli.

The pulled pork was a good cook and moisture but the whole sandwich was lacking in the seasoning.

The Italian was underwhelming as a whole and seemed like a small portion of just meat.. no veggies of any kind.

The service was fine for what the place is.. the lady behind the till seemed bothered that there was a line and the atmosphere was less than what I was expecting.

We were informed that there would not be enough red beans for everyone and in line agreed to take whatever they got which impressed me.

The beans them selves were good but the rice was absolutely mush.. like beyond overcooked.

It was good enough that I will try again.. everyone...

My partner and I went in to get food on Friday, excited to have BSD again. We both ordered the same sandwich; Ribinator no onion. We’ve been here once before this and an older gentleman was working. Brisket was awesome the time we went. This time it wasn’t anything but mediocre.

On to the rib sandwich they were no different than a rib patty you’d get at McDonald’s. The photos on the website are deceiving. There was a gentleman in the kitchen wearing a hat with a ponytail that kept licking his fingers anytime he’d bring the patty up from the back. He would then go grab more. Not once did he wash his hands.. Unfortunately there was also onion on the sandwiches even though we had asked for it to be without. No big deal we picked the onions off. We ended up tossing our sandwiches because the bbq sauce killed them and I was grossed out by the employee licking...

Sandwiches were just ok.. the Italiano had like 4 pieces of Deli meat on it, the pulled pork was ok, the turkey apple was the best of the 3... The sides were in all honesty disgusting. Red beans and rice. The most flavorless thing ever. The "rice" was runny overcooked mush. There was hot sauce on the beans, but still no flavor, just a bit of heat. Also the front counter person was acting like she didn't want to be there at all and we inconveniencing her by being there. After all the raving reviews we were excited to try, but in the end were...
