One of the bartenders (pink hair, glasses, bad attitude) decided she was going to reject multiple pieces of valid ID and immediately kick me out, then refused to tell me what she thought was wrong with them.
I was then told rather sternly: "I'm going to have to ask you to leave - you need to talk to SGI".
Yikes.
Have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous? Valid ID gets mysteriously rejected, and other customers and even other bartenders who work there didn't understand what her problem was, and no specific reason was given (for me getting kicked out).
So I went to the main SGI office downtown. They checked it out: UV lamp test, drop test, watermark check, database check. Hours wasted. Confirmed nothing wrong with ID.
So after spending hours going to SGI and a local insurance place for second and third opinions, they worked out the bartender screwed up and thought I had a "6 year validity" because the issue date and expiry dates fall in different months. In some cases, this can cause the calendar year difference between issue and expiry dates to look like 6 years (if you only have 3 or 4 braincells and can't understand what's happening).
SGI round it up by a few months instead of rounding it down for your first ID. That's all. It's not hard to understand if you have common sense.
My ID was issued when I moved here (obviously) and not exactly on my birthday, which is normal for a first ID or DL: it's 5 years PLUS as many months as it takes until your next birthday comes around. After that, it's exactly 5 years for subsequent renewals.
How do you screw up checking ID? Is it really that hard?
If she told me what she thought was wrong, it would've saved me hours trying to fix something that wasn't broken as I could've explained to her why she was wrong in about 10 seconds.
She even said, "We've had other customers with the same problem", which really just meant she's kicked out loads of other customers with valid ID as well. Disgraceful.
The local insurance place told me this was a mistake Dublin's has been making for months. This was just going to keep on happening until a customer made a big deal out of it... so here we are.
Imagine being a few months from 40, getting ID'd, then suddenly told to leave because "Yeah... I can't accept that I'm afraid".
The food and atmosphere are good, so it's still 5 stars. 🍔 🍺
Edit:
I never received an apology from management for the way I was treated (kicked out because my valid ID was rejected by employee who doesn't understand the provincial ID rules), so I'm revising my generous 5 star review...
Read moreWow I just picked up fish and chips and lasagna tonight from this place and I've never been here before but I figured it should have good food it's an Irish pub. That had to be the worst food I've had and I can't even remember the last time food was that bad.The fish and chips were so greasy and brown that oil must have been in that deep fryer since the morning time and hadn't been changed out it was awful and the fish was like rubber I couldn't even chew it and yet the batter managed to be uncooked on the inside and brown on the outside here'sa tiip cook, if it's brown on the inside and rubbery and uncooked and Raw on the inside your temperature is too high that you're frying it in. Well it's a good thing they have a bunch of bar flies in there to drink booze because there's a lot of restaurants in Saskatoon and that one's not going to survive on its food that's for sure if I hadn't been driving out of town after I picked up the food I would have went back and demanded my money back that's how bad it was stay away from this place to eat. I gave my fish and chips to my dogs because they're used to eating cow s* and stuff so they were okay...
Read moreI would like to give this venue a 5 star review but I am giving it a 4 as this is a fair representation for Google.
I am a big city, east side, or uptown kind of girl. However, during my time in Saskatoon I keep finding myself returning to Dublin’s to enjoy sometime with my friends!
What I can say about Dublin’s is that this is a very well run and established facility on Saskatoon’s west end. There is plenty of seat options, an inviting bar town, approachable employees, VLTs, a Jukebox, a pool table, foosball, arcade games, and good food/drinks.
The night that I was last here was a Tuesday in January 2019. On this night I believe all of their bottled beers (including imports) were $6 each and there was an offer where if you order one appetizer you get an additional FREE. I ordered Dublin’s calamari and got mini perogies with all the toppings at no additional cost 👍🏼!
Again, this is a homestyle operation and I feel as if you would build great friendships the more...
