I went there tonight with my family for the first time. The variety of food was on par with a lot of buffet restaurants across the country. Unfortunately, the food taste and quality was not good. My wife is vegetarian and did not like the dishes, but I can't comment on that from personal experience as I didnt have any vegetarian main courses. I liked the fresh naan when they brought it to the table. The naan at the buffet was very dry. The butter chicken was decent. The chaat papdi was good. The lamb curry, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani and halwa were definitely edible, but not that great tasting. The samosa was fresh but filing almost seemed like the potatoes were not cooked properly and was bland.
The staff on the other hand were very nice and helpful. Restaurant was clean. The only complaint I have is when there is a party with loud music, either turn off the restaurant music or ask the party to lower their music. I normally enjoy remixes, but not the type I heard tonight.;)
We are only in Saskatoon a few times a year so we thought of trying this place. If you haven't been to a indian buffet, do try this place atleast once. I have grown up eating indian food so maybe my review is biased to the flavors I have grown up with. If anything, you will be full when you leave.
To the owners: This is not a complaint. It is an honest review. Please do not call this fake and try to defend yourselves. Having worked in the hospitality industry my whole life, I know there will always be customers who did not have a positive experience at your restaurant. Reading some of your responses to customer complaints and reviews only makes me have more of a negative impression of your restaurant. Hope you take my recommendation...
Read moreThis was my 4th time here yesterday. I went there with two of my friends. I chose the buffet as it was written 16.99 plus tax on the menu. I took a quick look around and noticed that the dinner time buffet look dried and not that appealing. But I still went ahead and tried my favorite dishes. One of them was the chana chaat. I took few bites and found out that it was really stale so I asked the guy to replace it. He did and I tried the other dishes like butter chicken, palak paneer, samosas and the salads. Overall it was ok. Now the main part is the pricing, as I mentioned above the buffet price was 16.99 in front of me on the menu. But when I brought this up to the girl she said "we changed it a week ago" . But why not the menu????? :/ So I was like f* it I'm not gonna argue for a dollar. But still guys you need to be honest and professional.
Anyways, most of the lower ratings are not lying about the quality of the food they used to serve here, especially in the buffet. When I first came here a year ago I loved it but now the quality is going down.
I have a few suggestions for the manager as I feel just saying negative things is not fair at all. The very first one is that to make the buffet item sizes smaller so it gets empty faster. This will maintain the freshness and quality of the food. Plus not so much will be wasted. Secondly, smaller items means more space for variety. Last thing is better customer service like asking for spice level and other obvious small things.
Goodluck guys I know you can be better. I will be back in a month to checkout the difference. If no improvements then this comment will stay, but if the experience is improved I will delete...
Read moreWe ate lunch at The Bombay today and had the Chicken Korma and the Lamb Coconut. Also had orders of butter naan and Papadum. Restaurant was clean and very open concept. It didn’t really look like what I would expect. Kind of felt like a conference room at a hotel with the round white tables and stage at the front. We were the only ones there at lunch so I was a bit surprised considering its very central location in Sutherland.Maybe they are more a supper place?? Service was good and the attentive waiter helped us choose the dishes. The food was good but not spectacular. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was good although I am pretty sure it is the same sauce as the butter chicken. The lamb was a little tough but still good. We felt the price was a bit high ($50 with 15% tip). If the dishes came with rice or naan instead of having to order them separately I think the price would be reasonable. Likely wouldn’t go out of our way to eat here again but wouldn’t be opposed...
