Harbourlite Restaurant — Restaurant in Saugeen Shores

We have visited Harbourlite restaurant on 01 September 2019 afternoon for an ice cream. Walking in you are welcomed by an acrid smell irritating your eyes and nostrils. Sure sign of frying oil past its deep frying prime. Unfazed we ordered one ice cream order of 2 scoops. Each of these 2 scoops a different flavor. Nothing special really, right? Turns out that 2 scoops is called a regular size order and can only be served in one flavor. In other words both scoops HAVE to be the same flavor. Requesting an explanation we've got a shrug. Turns out that if one wants two flavors ice cream a 3 scoop order must be placed. That's right; for two flavors ice cream one must purchase 3 scoops ice cream paying for 3 scoops. Even though I only wanted to eat 2 scoops. ... just two different flavors. I do not understand such nonsense and possible explanation eludes me just as it did the servers. My wife did not even attempt to order hers. We left without purchasing any ice cream. And behold the picture of a young server scrubbing an ice cream while fully in the display refrigerator. Ice cream with hair, dandruff and skin flakes perhaps? Disgusting. We've requested an owner or a manager, were told she was not present, asked for a contact info, received a mobile phone number. Called promptly and left a voice message explaining our .... confusion and dissatisfaction. Shockingly...

This place is a dive, worst customer service, Horrible experience, by an accident I dropped my burger with my two children with me as I was holding the door for them, did not even have a bite as I bought it for take out, asked if the chef would make a new one because I paid $10 for the burger alone and $40 for my whole meal and he refused… So I then asked to speak with the owners. As he doesn’t have the authority to even say no, the chef then called the owners as he was to lazy to just make the burger over and they told him to make a new burger for me as any owner would that was the only way he would because clearly customers don’t mean much to him only money he makes by sitting doing nothing, that’s just sad customer service and a clear act of laziness as no one was there and no orders were being made and the chef was sitting doing nothing besides looking on his phone, just pure lazy and has no respect for customers. I recommend not eating here as the other food we also ordered was cold and outdated also the restaurant...

Been going to this place.about 30 years.oe more. My ritual is a footlong and fries with a few days later an ice cream. I thought they closed down but see they have opened this year. Just started my holiday and can hardly wait to enjoy ritual once again. I love the location and the charm of the old vintage style restaurant. If you expect a high end restaurant dont go there. I so hope they never close down. It's a landmark and no new developments will have the charm that this restaurant has. And....hotdogs and fries are even better than the restaurant at the other end...
