Angry, grumpy staff. Our family of 6 was hungry and excited to eat some local fish and chips. We asked how many fish on the platter and the woman shook her head while the man started yelling at us: "One piece! Everything is one piece!" Yes, even the platter, "ONE PIECE!" We unwisely asked a second question about how big the fish pieces are. Again, we were yelled at: "4oz! 4oz!" We don't know how much that is, how big? (using hand motions to indicate length) "4oz!! 4oz!!" At this point we decided to leave, commenting that we didn't like being yelled at. The man kept yelling at us as we walked out, "Because you don't understand. You don't listen! Go somewhere else!!!" Will do, sir.

It seems like they must have been tired of people asking questions, but perhaps a clearer sign instead of yelling at customers would be more effective.

Their food must be pretty great to have received such high reviews - if you can make it past the verbal abuse!

Also: we went on to enjoy delicious fish and chips - and great service - at The...

We popped in to grab some take-out after a family photo shoot took us past our usual dinner time with the kids. I honestly don't know why I don't eat there more often - it's fantastic! Large portions, friendly owners, and the food is served up hot, fresh, and delicious. We had two different yakisoba (noodle stir fry) dishes: beef and chicken, spring rolls, and won ton soup. The stir frys were piping hot, even after driving home and changing the kids out of "photo clothes" into stuff they could spill on. Veggies were crisp and plentiful, and I couldn't believe the protein portions. The spring rolls were crisp and the sauce they served with them was the perfect blend of spicy and tangy/sweet. The won ton soup almost tasted like a miso-based broth which was a nice surprise. Won tons themselves weren't the best, but hey, it's not really a won ton place. Great value in pricing, too. It's nice to have an option for good non-sushi Asian fare in Sooke...

The woman working the till was very dismissive and rude. She needs to work on her customer service skills. Do not go here unless you like getting treated like trash.

Update: It's laughable and very unprofessional that one of the owners is gaslighting me on my review instead of attempting to get more information on what happened during my visit. She very clearly scoffed at me and rolled her eyes at me when I asked her if their facilities were open, when all she had to say was no. The interaction that I had with the buisness next door that day was 50 times more pleasant, the attitude that I received from the women working at The Teriyaki House that day was completely unreasonable and unjustified. I was hoping that my review would be taken as constructive criticism, but based on the reply that I have received from the buisness clearly that hasn't happened....

This looked like a nice stop on our way to sooke. We ordered a ramen soup- we ended really disappointed with the overall experience. Poor flavor, low quality ingredients- noodles were from the two minutes ramen soups (Maruchan type). They used plastic containers for everything- even though we were dining there, and they gave us little wooden ā€œspoonsā€ - impossible to eat soup with those, we asked for other type of spoons and they told us ā€œthat all we haveā€ in a rude way. After some minutes they gave us proper soup spoons -but at that point I just wanted to leave šŸ˜“

I came here with a group of 5. This restaurant is owned by a sweet Korean couple. Once we ordered in the front, we sat indoor and they said they would bring the food to us. The food came pretty quick and everyone enjoyed their meal. However, the wonton soup was small for the price. I am from NYC, so in Chinatown I could get more wontons plus noodles for the same price. Overall, we had a great experience. the restaurant is kept clean. There are both outdoor and indoor seating. Also there an ice cream shop next door so you can go there for dessert!

Nice little stop over before the road ahead. The place is clean and tidy, with ample sunlight to the dinning space. During cold times a small heater runs in that room. Their tempura is top notch, lightly coated and fried at right temperature for the Asian light crisp texture. Tho I don’t remember being surprised by the spring roll. Nevertheless, the protein in their seafood boxes didn’t disappoint. Both the salmon and the shrimp are tender. Lots of stir fried veggies with teriyaki sauce. The couple who runs the place is patient and wonderful.
