My wife and I ate here because we were told that this place offered the best lobster rolls on the island and according to my wife, Richard's did not disappoint. My wife was in lobster heaven! My cousins, who live close to Shediac, NB and were eating with us actually said it was "the best lobster they ever ate" and that "they can't get delicious lobster like that anywhere in New Brunswick.". To me, it looked like Richard's fit a whole lobster into the roll and everyone couldn't stop saying saying how DELICIOUS it was. As for me, I am not a lobster fan so I had the chicken fingers. These were quite delicious as it seemed prepared at the restaurant (not from a factory and frozen in a box). The breading was light and crispy with a panko crumbs/flour combo. I chose a sweet mustard dipping sauce because I was told it was the closest sauce to spicy that they offered. It wasn't spicy at all, but was surprisingly tasty! The fries were pretty much delicious, but the same homemade PEI fries you find in many local restaurants (ANOTHER reason to love PEI, haha!). The 2nd time we came, I tried the fish and chips. I wasn't as happy with my order this time as before. Although the haddock was very fresh and the portions were large, the homemade breading fell apart easily which left me unsatisfied because it left me with a very messy meal. I think the meal works best when you have both a proper, delicious breading along with the fresh fish, I might suggest going with a wet batter such as a beer batter instead of the panko crumbs/flour combo. That way, the two compliment each other and you're left with a delicious meal. The tartar sauce seemed homemade and VERY tasty. The only downsides were having to pay 2 dollars for parking and how incredibly busy it was. Our 1st visit was around 2:00 (on a weekday) and our 2nd visit was a little after 4:00 (again, on a weekday). Very busy both times. I can't imagine what it must be like during the rush hours. But hey! If people are willing to pay for parking and the restaurant is always busy, they must be doing something very right!

My family has vacationed on P.E.I. over the past thirty years well over twenty times and Richard’s Fresh Seafood is on our “Must Visit” list. We waited in line for lunch outside the restaurant as we have done every year. The line-up in 2022 appeared to be longer than previous years as more people have opted to return to the Island post-COVID. My wife and daughters ordered the fish and chips and the fish burger and I had the scallops. The fish and chips were amazing and each order came with two large fish fillets. The coleslaw and tartar sauce tasted homemade and were just wonderful. The fish burger was the best my daughter had ever had. For the scallop meal I ordered, I expected perhaps six scallops as they are so rich and filling, but there were ten in the order and they were delicious. Another member of our party ordered the lobster burger, which was the best lobster meal she had ever had. In addition, Richard’s French fries are some of the best we’ve ever tasted and the portions are generous. We took home the fries we couldn’t finish and used them for our next meal at home – something we never do. We as a family can say without hesitation that Richard’s has the best seafood we’ve ever tasted, anywhere, anytime, in Canada, the U.S., Europe, bar none. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.

I can’t give 5 stars because of the line. Disclaimer: I am not a fish fan but wanted to try lobster on our trip. This is not a review for people searching for the best place for a lobster roll. Both the lobster blt and the roll were very tasty but I feel like you could find it elsewhere. All the ingredients you can tell are fresh. The salad was AMAZING though and I would highly recommend. We waited in total 1 1/2 hrs arriving just before 1pm so be prepared for long lines and I’d recommend grab your water bottle for the line. The beer was very affordable and from my searching the price of the food was in line with the rest of the line. It wad definitely an experience but if you want a faster lunch watch out - also google maps “busy time” is NOT accurate. The could definitely make the total wait time a lot faster with some efficiencies in ordering but unlikely to happen.

I had this twice during my stay in PEI and loved it so so much the first time, even though the lineup seemed long even half an hour before close. The lobster roll was this ridiculously perfect blend of fresh lobster, lemon, mayo, celery and buttered and toasted thick bread and I was in heaven. The second time I went was when it first opened and the lineup was 3 times as long and the celery chunks were just too large and while everything else tasted great, the texture going from smooth to a bit chunky dropped my rating to 4 stars. The girl at the front is the sweetest and is probably partly why people aren't raging after 30 minutes in line. I hear the fish is absolutely stellar too and the view from upstairs is lovely, especially at sunrise. Even with the chunkier celery, it was still the best lobster roll I had on the island and I highly recommend it!

Came around 1pm in early June, and there was no line up at all. We ordered the lobster burger and scallops and fries, substituting the fries with salad (no additional cost) and the food came out in around 10-15 min. Everything was amazing - lobster was juicy and fresh. The scallops were our favorite though, they were plump and perfectly fried. We really enjoyed the salad too, it wasn't a boring bowl of leaves like your typical side salad but had grapes, feta cheese, pickled red onion etc. We also got a dozen oysters from the little market next door. These were delicious, but the shucking could've been cleaner. Service was super friendly! Prices are a little high, but the food was excellent. We had read reviews that there is a parking fee, but we weren't charged anything (possibly due to us visiting during the off season).

We had just visited Pogey beach and were looking for a nice place to enjoy a meal. After looking at reviews nearby we decided to venture west to check out Richard's in Stanhope. The reviews were by and large very positive and boy were we pleased with our choice. We had the lobster roll and a couple lobster burgers, all heaping with whole pieces of lobster meat. The fries were of the kind you hope for, large, browned and flavourful. The small side salad, a housemade slaw with sunflower seeds and even a little broccoli. And to top it off, a fantastic view if you can score a table on the upstairs patio. Thank you Richard and friends for a perfect late lunch experience! I will be requesting it by name next time I'm in the area.
