Saffron Bistro — Restaurant in Strathmore

We went Saffron Bistro on a Wednesday evening to celebrate our anniversary. We have lived in the Strathmore area for some time and have thought for a while that the town could use some variety in its sit down dining offerings. The Saffron definitely adds some spice to local dining scene!

We started by ordering the vegetarian sample platter to start. All of the selections were served hot and introduced a wonderful variety of flavours. The spicy mint dipping sauce was my favourite where my wife enjoyed the sweeter one.

Our main courses of tools masala chicken and beef organising were enjoyed over saffron rice and hot and fresh naan. The flavours were rich and the heat prevalent. I was hoping for some tasteful heat in my selection and was well satisfied.

Our server was fantastic! She was patient in explaining the menu and was charming. The food came in a timely manner and was hot and fresh. The restaurant ambiance featured some light ethnic background music and we sat tall backed private booth.

The price was reasonable for the quality and quantity of the cuisine enjoyed.

From the moment you walk in you feel the warmth of this restaurant. My husband and I enjoy coming her for there lunch specials. You can pick between vegetarian or meat main courses and it comes with an appetizer, salad of the day and fresh nanny bread all for under $17 per person. Today i ordered the butter chicken special and per usual it was thick creamy and full of incredible flavor. Definitely a favorite for anyone. My husband chose the beef vindaloo. If you like something with a bit more of a kick this is definitely one you must try. It came out thick bright and bursting with spices. Let's just say he couldn't stop smiling with every bite. This has to be one of our favorite places to eat from strathmore to calgary. We are never disappointed when we come. The restaurant is always clean and the young lady who works here is always polite and prompt with checking in on you. You may have read my husband's review already...we went for our anniversary on June 5, 2019. The place has only be open for about a month and we really hope it stays a while. It's located in downtown Strathmore in a location that has seen a lot of restaurants open and then close. But this one is a keeper! I didn't think I was an Indian cuisine fan, but I think after the meal we had that will change. It was delicious...spicy, flavourful, perfect portions, fairly priced and great service. The ambiance was perfect for conversation and privacy. We didn't feel rushed or bothered and never ran out of water. A great experience and great food. We will definitely go back and we want everyone...
