Tuque Shawarma — Restaurant in Strathroy-Caradoc

The first thing I got upon opening the door, was a mean look from the man behind the counter. He didn't ever smile or say a word to me. I couldn't see a menu when I approached the counter, and he shoved a menu at me using a dirty glove. I don't know if he changed to clean ones to make our food as I wasn't comfortable standing and watching him. I told my husband what I wanted and went to the restroom. It was very dirty in there. That's when I noticed the Christmas decorations. I came out of the bathroom and looked at the empty tables, and none of them were clean. As I looked, I noticed more dusty xmas decor around. (Our visit was in July) I asked my husband to get our order to go, and went out to the car. We drove to a park to eat and the food was so disappointing. I've been eating Mediterranean food for over a decade and this was the worst I've ever had. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The pickles were limp. The only things that tasted ok were the hummus and the garlic sauce. I ate 6 bites and threw it out. I tried my husband's fries and they tasted like old oil. I should have followed my gut instinct and walked out as soon as the man working there wasn't friendly to me. I don't know if it's women he doesn't like, or what, but idk how this place is in business if that's how he reacts to a white woman walking in the door. Filthy, unfriendly, disappointing...

Stumbled across this little gem while looking for highly rated food off the 402 on our way back to the US. The staff were super friendly, helping us navigate the specialities with ease. I got an outstanding lamb wrap with all the fixings (DELICOUS!) while my hubby went with the "shawarma poutine"... probably the oddest combination of food styles imaginable, but it was a fantastic combo that really worked. It was a unique combination of familiar flavors. He got it with chicken, but if we ever get back to Strathroy, he will order it with lamb, because my lamb was just awesome.

Drink options were of the Pepsi variety plus water and root beer.

Clean, spacious, & easy to social distance. Bathrooms were colorful and clean. Can't speak to the men's room, but there was a nice clean and modern baby changing table in the women's room. It's also the very first time I've seen a bidet in a public bathroom! Go Tuque.

Located in a strip mall off the main drag of historic Strathroy, if you see Tim Horton's, you've gone too far.

Super tasty and reasonably priced for the amount of food. I can highly recommend this place to fellow...

I have eaten here in the past and yes the food I ordered tasted great and aligns with general 4-5 star reviews you see but I don't think I will be returning anytime soon.

I was a walk in customer and I had placed an order and as I was waiting I observed the gentlemen go into the back room and pull out a lage refill of RAW CHICKEN to mount on the upright grill, he the proceeded to remove the wrap that was dripping with RAW CHICKEN JUICE and then moved on to his next chore of preparing someone else's cooked food order with no intention to wash his hands until I said I'm canceling my order as i voiced this extremely unsafe health practice.

Its unfortunate that I only take to social media when I have a bad experience, but when it is in regards to the health of the general public, I must voice my observations. I hope they learn from this and become more aware of safe food practices as this is something that is not taken lighty with the ministry of health and could cause you to close your doors.
