I blocked hotels last year for my upcoming wedding coming up the female who booked me told me that if anyone was interested in my hotels they would call me so I could either release them to whoever or pay for my hotels to keep them. I sent out my invites and my guests were calling me saying the Clock Tower is booked. I go in assuming I have to adjust something or work something out, some what of a gut feeling that something was wrong. Boy was it ever! - my hotels that I blocked way in advance have been given away and blocked by another lady. The girl asks me if i am "__" and i said nope... so that was a fault in its own because of breeching confidentiality on the other ladies behalf but I later find out that this benefited me somewhat.
The Manager (of inn part) tells me shes been trying to contact the girl and she will try the girl one more time cause they have been trying for 3 weeks to get ahold of her because people have been calling for the rooms (My wedding guests) and she will let me know by Tuesday if all is good and I can have them... she assumed I would because shes never answered back for 3 weeks. She takes my number ensures she will call me. NO CALL... so I call back myself talk to a girl who tells me shes not in til Thursday! She will call manager and figure it out. This other girl calls me back NOT THE MANAGER to tell me the bad news that the hotels are to go to the other girl. I am so frustrated by this I say well I guess I'll see what I can do ...
I email them back to tell them the disappointment this has caused and the troubles... I've heard NOTHING its been 48 hours.. My cousin left a google review ... he had time to leave a comment there though.. My sister & I have both called.... NO CALL BACK. The service of Management is BEYOND disappointing because I am not even getting a proper I AM SORRY let alone trying to make something work for me.
I have to now get out of town shuttles cause there is maybe like 2 air bnb's for my out of town guests thats it! A bus is going to cost me a fortune... a limo for my fiance and I is also going to cost us and I have to do everything out of my home to get ready for my big day when I wanted the beautiful atmosphere of the clock tower in photos for getting ready... It's all destroyed my plans... Do I have to get a luxury of a limo? no... I could be sober and drive my fancy Hyundai Elantra - because that is what every bride wants on her wedding day to have no fun, drive herself home on her wedding and squish a big dress into a little car for a 30 minute drive....
For something that I was well efficient in trying to get done way ahead of time because I knew it was a long weekend and it would book fast has been squashed with no apologies or how it even happened.
For the final hooray of this atrocious story that I would be able to talk to Mark about personally if someone would just have the decency to call me back or email me back with is that through the power of Facebook, mutual friends, small town living life && the breech of confidentiality by the girl asking me if i was a specific person who had my spots.... Looks as if this female who has my spot knows an employee or...

The staff working here did an excellent job and did everything they could do to help me during the stay including clreaning. The owner, however, is the problem. I hope he will realize his negligence and what can be seen as a disrespectful attitude towards the guests.
As a resident of the area with many family members living in Strathroy, I'm deeply disappointed that such a historic building is so poorly maintained. The lack of sincerity from the owner in terms of taking responsibility for properly maintaining the rooms is disheartening. It also seems apparent that he cares more about his restaurant customers than hotel guests, whom he may consider one-time customers. If you choose to operate this type of British-style accommodation, you should take responsibility and consider the intentions of the customers who choose this type of hotel.
・My booking was Queen Elizabeth (bathtub & window) but unbenounced to me of any of the staff, the owner changed my room to the Princess of Wales (No window), ofc I was disappointed and wasted everyon's time to deal with this trouble. As it turns out Q Elizabeth was not supposed to be available for booking due to the door lock being broken they said, however, he failed to update the websites.
・The staff then offered me King George but I found that it had no bathtub after ariiving at the room, what a waste of my time. The staff were given incorrect photos files, that's not their fault tho. Once again, the owner doesn't care about this side of business and certainly is not concerned with customer satisfaction.
・Thankfully, due to the excellent help of the staff, they were able to find me the Prince Albert (it took almost 1h since I arrived to get the room), but the maintenance of the room was terrible. The fabric was torn, the carpet was wavy, there was a letter saying the shower was broken, the plumbing and drains for the bathtub and its accompanying shower wand were leaking , and instead of the English-style bedspread as shown on the website it was just a plain black bedspread.
・There is a gap between the pictures on the website and reality and I also noticed some wrong infomation here and there on different website and the reality. It's very obvious the owner avoids doing even the most basic of maintenance.
・When I made my booking, I asked if the restaurant had a special birthday dishes but unsurprisingly, I got no response.
There are various aspects that I find concerning and this accommodation seems to operate more like an Airbnb rather than a typical hotel. As such, I feel that it's necessary to clearly communicate relevant guidelines...
Read moreWe arrived around 15 minutes before nine o'clock pm, and the lady who checked us in was polite and great. We went up to our room, but was surprised at the bubbling carpet along the stairs. It should be noted that this hotel is NOT accessibility-friendly. They also use the European system of naming floors (aka, ground floor is floor 0, second floor is Floor 1, etc). So when we were told our room was on the second floor, it was actually on the third. We stayed in the Princess of Wales Suite, which looked exactly as the pictures show. However, the bed was uncomfortable, and could do with either a thick mattress topper or a new mattress entirely; my wife and I did not sleep well, even with the influence of alcohol.
In addition, the rooms don't seem secure. The room is locked with a similar push button system system to that of a bathroom door. There are no more extra locks to make you feel secure (no chain lock or door bolt). We had to put the desk chair against the door to feel like we had a modicum more security.
I was excited to take a bath in the clawfoot tub; we have an apartment with only a shower in it, so having hotel rooms with bathtubs is a touch of luxury for me. I went to fill the tub, and the water never turned hot. I was confused, but my wife used to live in an old house and told me to wait a bit since we were on the third floor. Five minutes later with the water running, and it still wasn't hot. Then my wife comes up with the idea to see if the sink had hot water. We turned on the sink's hot tap and a few seconds after running that, both the sink and tub faucet water grew warm. Hurray! A warm bath. I turn the sink faucet off, but then I'm met with the grim reality that the bath faucet will only remain warm if the sink faucet is also running hot water. What a waste! Nevertheless, I'm determined to have my bath after a long day of travelling. I do get my bath, and the bath is comfortable and lovely, but the initial set-up was janky and at the very, very least deserves instructions for guests.
This hotel has a lot of charm, but it needs some improvements to really make it a great stay. The charm quickly wears off once you, as a guest, meets these internal issues. In a way, it's get-what-you-pay-for, but that doesn't negate that there are definite changes that can be made for the better here. What I will say is that the rooms were tidy and clean, with no worries of bed bugs or any similar hygeine issues that come with similarly...
