Last week, a group of five of us went to the restaurant to order food at around 8:10 PM. We had checked the restaurant's operating hours in advance and knew it was open until 9 PM. To avoid causing any inconvenience to the staff, we planned to order quickly so we could leave early and let the restaurant staff finish work on time. However, our experience at the restaurant was so disappointing that I will never go back again.
Firstly, we understand that everyone is eager to go home at the end of their shift, and the food preparation might be a bit rushed. But we cannot accept that out of the five dishes we ordered, only the nachos were good. The fish and chips were hot on the outside but cold in the middle. The sauce for the pasta was so oily that it floated on top of the dish. The ribs were clearly pre-made and were just warm, not hot, when served. They were very dry, suggesting they had been sitting in the kitchen for a long time.
We ordered a large beer, and when the server brought it, his finger was in the beer. If I could excuse this by saying the server made a mistake due to handling five glasses, what excuse is there for the fact that our Coke took 10 minutes to arrive?
At a nearby table, an elderly local complained about the excessive salt in his dish, and the server immediately replaced his meal and apologized profusely. However, when our server asked if everything was okay, he walked away before we could answer. Later, when he came to rush us to pay the bill, we told him about the cold fish in the fish and chips, but there was no response. He didn’t offer to replace the dish, didn’t inform the kitchen, and didn’t explain anything to us. He just acknowledged the issue and walked away.
When we were about to pay the bill, he came to clear the table, but he wasn’t careful with the cutlery, and a knife fell on my wife’s leg. He didn’t even apologize! He just picked up the plate and utensils and walked away.
My aunt and uncle have lived on the island for over a decade and have never experienced anything like this at any restaurant. All five of us were shocked by the server dropping a knife on a customer’s leg without an apology. We believe that an established restaurant should have its unique style, but it should also listen to customer feedback. I saw a Google review from eight months ago mentioning racial discrimination by Ryan. Now, eight months later, I feel I encountered the same issue by the same person!!! Is it because we are not native Summerside residents? Or is it because we don’t look like locals that we are treated differently? Does your restaurant really care about customer feedback, or do you think that customers like us are not important enough to be treated well? It can be say the worst experience we have. If possible, I wanna...
Read moreWonderful Restaurant and will visit again, when we visit Sumerside. We didn't have reservations when we arrived which looked like might cost us a table. They did find a table behind the glass in the front door. The table was crammed in the small space and you needed to crawl over the other chair to get to the back. Being cut off from the rest of the table made for an enjoyable evening catching up with old friends with no disturbance from the other tables. I would request to sit here for private dinning. At times, however it seems like we were forgotten in the corner. But we were in no hurry and could have been to being busy the other parts of the restaurant. The server was prompt and quick at the end to clear the plates and provide the bill. The food was fabulous. Two of us order mussels and were likely the best I've had in a long time at a restaurant, maybe next time I'll order two or three serving of must mussels. But, after the mussels, I got the fish and chips. Fish was very tasty, but battered more than I like, however, this appeals to my wife. Chips (fries) were average with what you get at most restaurants and didn't stand out. We finished with chocolate cake with who-cream and when no one was looking, licked the plate clean. The restaurant appeared clean and our server was pleasant and friendly, I would look to sit in her section again. We enjoyed and visit here and would return again, especially for...
Read moreI will return to Summerside to eat here. I stopped in after referrals from the hotel next door. Initially I thought it was a VLT lounge from the outside, but to my surprise it wasn’t. My experience was an organized, clean efficient, friendly, social environment.
The food I had wasn’t completely fresh made to order; but I could tell they at least made it in house. It was clearly frozen at one point, but most restaurants operate similar.
What stood out is considering my bacon wrapped asparagus chicken wasn’t made on the spot, it was still the best damn thing I’ve eaten on PEI in a very long time! The taste, temperature and texture was fantastic for something that was likely frozen the day before.
It was ready in under 10 minutes even though the place was packed and lined up out the door.
I was very impressed with the taste, price, time and friendly communication among the staff. I could nit pick the cranberry sauce needs improvement, but I couldn’t have done it better.
The prices were great, but I stopped in during the winter outside of tourist season. Summer could be a different experience, but I’m looking forward to returning...
