Tried beef, chicken and butter chicken samosas, and plain paratha. Was really not a fan of these samosas. The shell was very flaky, and thick, a little bit like a pie crust and absorbed a lot of oil. As apposed to a thin and crispy, non flaky crust, which I prefer. The filling was not very typical either. The beef was almost like a beef chili/stew and was the best of the three. It was OK. The chicken filling was..."mucky"... for lack of a better term, the butter chicken filling was just big chunks of chicken as opposed to a uniform filling. Seems like it was just the same chicken they put on the butter chicken pizza, stuffed inside a samosa shell.
The taste and texture of the shell though, was just very odd, almost chemical tasting at times, and other times I got this raw dough flavour which was very unappealing. It tasted like wet flour. They were also very oily. I like a bit of oil but these soaked up a ton of oil. And the oil it was cooked in was far from fresh, clean oil. Even if they were cooked perfectly, this recipe is just not good. I wouldn't put these on the menu, given all the amazing samosa places you can find in the within a few km of here.
The paratha was more like roti, and I was not a fan, it was too dense. Also exhibited this raw doughy taste.
The staff was nice, the service was good, the prices are reasonable. Haven't tried their pizza, and may give it a go sometime. But they gotta do something about these...
Read moreThis is my first dissatisfied Google review and I am not the type to rant or vent but something in me had to say something and I want people to be warned. First off, I really gave this place many chances since my boyfriend is a loyal customer since 2015. I've had many weird things get in our food and let me tell you, this time it was TOO MUCH! I found this foreign particle while I was eating their tikka masala. And I ALMOST digested it! Luckily as I bit into it, it was hard and I took it right out. I realized it was not meat or ANYTHING edible! The feel of it is hard and plastic. You can't break it as it feels like rubber. I have no idea what this thing is! NO I DIDNT EAT THE REST OF THE FOOD. Straight to the the trash bin. Paid for it and no refund. At first I thought it was a tooth since it was hard and was shaped like it. I am so disappointed and disgusted! I tried giving you guys so many chances after chances. I don't think they practice food safety and God knows what else happens and how safe and clean is your establishment. Believe me, I'm not a picky eater but I won't stand on these type of reaccurence, I really had to say something this time. Its too much. Please do better from now on or my suggestion to everyone - JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Look at my photo for ref.
*edit:...
Read moreThe butter-chicken pizza is to die for. The samosas are thick, well-stuffed and full of that classic traditional flavor. The jalebi is a good balance of crunchy:gooey and perfect level of sweetness!
YUMMM
Very decent prices. Very popular/busy establishment evenings/weekends obviously. Time your order strategically!
Docked one star because of the following experience:
I have seen the line-up out the door, literally. Which is a problem a business WANTS to have! But the volume needs to be accommodated, even if only 1-3 nights/week! They have three kind of flimsy seats and minimal waiting room (the supplies/boxes that are stored there take up some valuable Friday night real estate!), so you get a chance to make some new friends! ;) When you first walk in, it can be confusing, even for staff, when it is not clear where the start of the line actually is, who is waiting for what, who has ordered/paid already etc. Hate to dock a full star for that. Wish I could do 0.5!
Other than that one experience, awesome lil place with a great mom'n'pop and LOCAL feel. Great veggie dishes...
