Ordered twice here, First time spent over $85 and paid $10 tip on a pick up and the boy still made me pay for a paper bag and only gave me one chopstick and one soy sauce. He looked at the bill, saw I tipped $10 push the bag towards me and walked away. No thank you, no Have a great evening nothing. I understand everywhere is charging for bags now but when your a restaurant and you’re getting paid $100 on a pick up order I think you can throw in a paper bag to take the food away, These are not reusable bags. How else am I supposed to carry it? The chicken teriyaki don is more than 50% onion it had to be thrown away because you can’t even pick the white onion out, it is mushed in with the rice. It was just too disgusting. The chicken was so burnt it was like crisp there was no chicken left $20 for this. Beef Don was undercooked and made my wife extremely sick She threw everything up right away and got food poisoning. Sushi rolls were very fishy and dry. We threw away the very fishy ones because I think they were bad even the dry ones were not fresh. Gave them a second try even though I shouldn’t have for a work event as I thought maybe it was an off night. Big mistake, spent over $120 again tip $10 on a pick up same boy same thing made me pay for a paper bag looked at the tip pushed it towards me no thank you just walks away. I spent $130 on a pick up one chopstick and one soya sauce, I think they know the order is for more than one person. This time all the sushi was so disgusting. It was literally thrown in the containers no presentation rolls were either dry or mushy. The fish was spoiled. I had the runs for two days. I felt ripped off and thought I would make a complaint when I called in and told them the guy hung up on me. I will not try this place again I don’t wanna die and would not wish or recommend this restaurant on my worst enemy. I don’t believe the positive reviews. There’s a reason every time you call even at busy dinner time they can have your large order done in 10 minutes. Rude staff and spoiled old food, no customer service and don’t care about customers or what they...
Read moreI dont normally bother to give reviews but thought I would this time. I recently moved into the area and thought I would try this place because it is super close to where I live. I tried to order a chicken teryaki don with yam tempura and california roll, as this is what I normally would order at the 600 other sushi places I have ordered from in the past-big mistake-lol. The woman on the phone set me straight that it was a chicken teriaki "bowl" not "don". She said when will you be here and I said "10 or 15 minutes," she replied "you be here 5 minutes." I replied " I will do my best." She repeated "you be here 5 minutes." I think she thinks she is being witty in retrospect, but it feels like you are being ordered to be there in 5 minutes. Oh well. So far so good. When I got there she asked me what my order was and I said chicken "box" Another big mistake. You mean chicken "bowl" she said. "I'm sorry, you're right chicken "bowl" I said. Its not a chicken box its a chicken "bowl". You're right I said. There is a difference between chicken box and chicken "bowl" she said. Again, I say, "you are right I am wrong "chicken bowl". "You ordered the chicken 'bowl'" she says. I am now thinking, is this how I am going to be spending the rest of this evening, apologizing for saying "chicken box"? Mercifully, the interogation stopped there. Fast forward, they put my order together. I get home -She had put the chicken bowl with two california rolls and no yam tempura-not that big of a deal really, but it is frustrating. Good news -the food that there was really tasty IMO. I think it is probably a husband-wife team who own this place where he cooks and she is "customer service" (I use the term loosely). I am writing this because, I feel that the only problem with this place is this woman, who is so rude and ill-suited to dealing with the public, that I cant see how they will last as a business. I would have gone every week I'm sure, but instead I will go to Sushi King George, which is farther away, because the people who took my order were really nice and the food was...
Read moreYay! I was waiting for Sushi iDO to show up on Google so that I could write a review, lol. This location used to be Sushi Plus, the only healthy restaurant closely walk-able from my place next to Gateway Skytrain. I was extremely sad that Sushi Plus had closed so shortly after I moved here, and likewise, extremely happy that Sushi iDO is now open with new owners!!!
I planned to frequent this location regardless of quality, but I noticed right away that the staff here are extremely attentive and very kind. An absolute delight to interact with. The chef himself is very much involved with customers as well, as he will greet you and interact with you from his work station sometimes.
What's more, the food is well made. Absolutely delicious and at a great price. Unlike the last Sushi place, this one has a proper veggie bento box (one of my favourite menu items) and a little seating area. They really made that small space work.
I'm not sure if it's still on the menu, but they had some Korean rice bowls (bop) including cold glass noodle and a lot of good ingredients on top. I ordered it to try and it was wonderful.
While all veggie items I've tried so far were delicious, my partner who orders fish items sends his compliments on the sushi rolls he has tried so far. His favourites always include BBQ eel/unagi, which he says is done very well at Sushi iDO. Thanks guys!
Edit: The owner told me the cup bob is still available, just not online (right now). I've also had sunomono and more rolls since I last wrote this review. Delicious. Will...
