Big G’s 241 Jerk Chicken — Restaurant in Toronto

I have bought food from this restaurant at least twice a week for about 2 yrs now. Sorry to say, since summer of 2024 the food has been nothing but disappointing. The jerk chicken is salty and small chicken wing portions included in the meal. I'm not sure how or why chicken wing is included in a jerk chicken order, when I didn't order jerk chicken wings! The rice portion is large but the meat is stingly served. Too much gravey to the point of my rice being drenched. They need to consider hiring a new cook because the food is really not "hit or missed" anymore, it's always " missed" now. I will only go back for the soup but nothing else. I can't buy food just to throw it away. Please review your reviews and do better with the meat portion and the flaour of the food. Cut down on your salt. Also, jerk the chicken. Please do not brown stew the chicken then add jerk season! That is not actually jerk. ( your jerk chicken has been very saggy) please go back to cooking like you did 2 yrs ago! Signed-...

Ok.... I'd give this place a 4.5 stars but the stew chicken gets 5 thumbs down! I cook at home; I cook all kinds of foods from different cultures- I know a good stew chicken when I eat one!!. We did take out 2 days ago; ordered large Oxtail, large Jerk chicken and large Stew chicken. The Oxtail and Jerk I give 4.5 stars- the rice and beans (peas) was too dry and not flavorful. The white rice for stew chicken was too clumpy. The stew chicken had an old burnt flavor. No bueno! I really dislike ordering something 😒 and it doesnt even come close to what ive ordered! Come on. Especially during this pandemic as a small business you need to be on point. Now, maybe it was a one off- but I am never ordering a stew chicken from here lol. Id order the oxtail and jerk again 100%. The coleslaw was also dry and salt less. Not tasty at all. Great portion sizes- great Oxtail- great jerk and OMG THEIR HOMEMADE BBQ SAUCE IS 😋 👌 AMAZING. UPDATE: Supporting your community and especially your black community is hard

Use to enjoy coming here until my last couple visits. Second last visit you can see (pictures attached) the lack of meat in my meal, and is was super dry and when I brought to the OWNER’S attention she smiled and said okay without caring for compensation

MY LAST visit AND will NOT return was to hear the OWNER complaining and laughing about me not wanting any drumstick pieces in my meal to avoid any further disappointment on spending my hard earned money It’s nice to come back to my childhood home and see Big G’s thriving. Definitely a staple in the community.

The prices and portions are still very satisfying for your belly and pockets.
