Caloura Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Toronto

COVID changed our lives in so many ways. This includes how we work, how we socialize and how we dine out should you still enjoy doing so.

Yesterday was my wife's birthday and the days leading up to it, we were trying to figure out where to go for a nice meal to celebrate. To my surprise, she suggested Caloura.

This is a small Portuguese Bar and Grill located on Rogers Road near Old Weston Road. In the 18 years we have lived in the neighborhood, we have passed this place almost daily in the 11 years it's been operating. Never gave it a second look nor were we even a little curious. Our assumptions about the place were so wrong.

From the moment we walked in we felt like we were visiting Tia Maria's for Sunday lunch. In our case, we were welcomed by Tia Patricia and Tio Rui for what turned out to be traditional home cooked Azorean cuisine.

At Caloura, you not only get exceptional food but you also receive outstanding service. My wife is from the Azores so a better judge you could not ask for. From the warm reception to when we were ready to bid farewell, it was hard to say goodbye as is always the case when you are with family.

Patricia and Rui, thank you so much for making our Sunday afternoon so enjoyable. Thank you for providing an exceptional meal that I can truly say was made with love and thank you for allowing my wife and I to feel like we were part of your family.

Well...We were at the special event last night and it was fantastic. Our party of 4 had a riot! Packed house...Music a blaring...and the authentic Portuguese buffet was awesome! Thanks for another wonderful event Patricia. You Rock!!!

The service was great! The food was fantastic! The pork pate was the best I ever had and the chef gave us a parting gift. Patricia, the Chef, does everything, and does it exceptionally well. The mussels were off the chain. Our mains were the fried codfish and the bife a casa. Awesome! And yes…she makes her own desserts. If you want authentic Portuguese food…this is the place to go. Quite the surprise…hoped it would be good but it was beyond that. Will be returning over and over and over again. Thanks for a fantastic evening Patricia....

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Caloura Bar & Grill, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The highlight of my visit was the incredible Bitoque steak prepared by Chef Patricia. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, making it one of the best I've ever had.

Chef Patricia's culinary skills truly shine, and her dedication to creating amazing dishes is evident. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to her for making my meal so memorable. The service was also top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a delightful dining experience.
