Sorry but I have to say it! I use to go to golden wheat on college! Since 2022 the amazing bread (papos-secos) have started to become exactly like the name (secos)… the deserts that I stopped eating there were old , over 3 days old. Everything they don’t sell today, they put it on the shelf for tomorrow and for next day! Now I drive from college to Weston road to get bread from golden wheat up there because for now the Portuguese buns there are amazing, and that I can say the best papo-secos I have ever tasted! Completely different from the ones on same bakery on college! Today I went like every other day up there to get bread and I bought one cake . I got home go to eat the cake, the egg cream on the outside was delicious and fresh, the inside was hard as a rock and dry like it was over a week old! Sad, how can they do that, knowing the prices are ridiculous expensive already and having the courage to put new cream on old cakes and sell them to the public as fresh! Place is great and has quality and variety. Only bad thing about this place is one of the staff girls working here is extremely rude at times like she hasn't slept in days. Other than that it's a great place. 11 months later I return only to have the same experience. Again with my son who always goes with me when I do go here. He has autism and this particular staff member was made aware of this the first time around but seems not to take kindly to people who have special needs. Not returning here anytime soon if at all.

Edit- now being in 2023, the staff has changed but still remain unaccepting to people with special needs. When I come in I speak English with the staff as they think that’s what I only speak. But when my son who is non verbal autistic speaks with me using his sign language they start talking smack in Portuguese not know that I’m also Portuguese.
