It's official. Haymishe Bagel Shop is just another mediocre place - a "has been" shadow of it's former self. I waited with anticipation for my favorite bakery to reopen. Today I made the one hour trek to Haymishe and couldn't be more disappointed! While the store itself is new & nicely laid out, it has significantly less selection and products that do not deliver the quality and taste my family has come to love & expect.
Haymishe products have always been pricey - but worth it. NOT ANY MORE!!!
The dozen bagels I purchased for $9 were definitely not up to their former delicious standard. The chocolate buffalo pastry($4.95) was tasty but heavy. My biggest disappointment was the Hamentashen - the cookie was dry and flavorless while the poppy seed filling tasted off...definitely not worth the outrageous price of $3.75 each!

Read moreI have been a regular buyer of the haymishe chocolate babka for several years now, and my family loved it, but the babka has changed drastically. It used to come in different shapes (rectangular, round) and had a much larger size. Over the years, the past two in particular, the chocolate babka has been diminishing in size, from roughly the circumference of a salad plate to a bread and butter plate. The price, unfortunately, remained the same- approximately $10, a ridiculous cost for such a what-is-now-small cake. What affected me as strongly as the reduced size of the cake was the change in recipe and /or ingredients, such as the dollops of chunky chocolate that were not found in chocolate babkas at any other bakery in Toronto, and the soft, majestic layers of the babka. To the owners of Haymishe, I greatly preferred the old babka recipe and wish for it to be brought back- I must now find another chocolate babka in ...
Read moreWouldn’t recommend. They have upped their price for a big pizza from around $20-25 and now the price all the way at $35. i used to enjoy ordering their pizza but now it just seems like there is no point. Also whenever i seem to order pasta or knishes from here on uber eats they always end up cancelling my order because they don’t have the stuff they put on their menu. Shouldn’t be on the menu if it’s always sold out and even if u don’t take it off ur should still be marked as sold out. not left up for people to order and wait for their money back. Pretty annoying experience here so far....
