What can I say about our favorite Ivorian restaurant that hasn't been said before.
I am convinced all African stores go through some reverse hospitality training in order to open a store in Canada. I once went there and the clerk told me their point of sale machine doesnt work so I have to go to the nearby ATM to pull money It was so matter of fact that at the ATM I realized the audacity of the situation. Which other store would let you leave without paying in the hopes you come back?
Another time I went the waiter handed me the menu, but through a series of rejected orders we found out the restaurant ran out of chicken, fish and beef at 6pm. Like our govts back home the man gave me a list of options on the menu that were not available, hoping I choose goat and closing down further discussion on why the menu was presented to me in the first place.
Yet another time I went to Le Plato, this time I placed an order in advance. I went to the store after an hour and my food was not ready. I got the story of ' It is being prepared' but I doubt it was ever ready.
If you are in the East end this restaurant provides great food and decent prices. Despite the pain I have been there several times. The food is great and the ordering experience adds to...
Read moreTiny menu and food I ordered was tasty. Service is extremely casual and weird. The man serving, brother of the cook is extremely annoying and creepy. At first I thought he was being courteous and friendly. He asked super personal questions. He asked if I’m on social media and when I said no he asked what I was doing on my phone!, asked what my ethnicity is, asked my status if single, asked how big is my home, asked what I bought in my bags from where and how much it cost and he peered into my bag too, asked my age and wouldn’t let it drop when I refused to tell, and asked if I want to go to Africa, etc.). Just get out of my face. Idk how long I was there maybe 15 minutes when I was waiting for the food being badgered. I will decide if I ever want to return since there’s stuff I’d like to try without creepy man working. It he didn’t work there or acted normal I’d rate higher based on food alone, but his creepiness is creepy and annoying. His sister needs to have a major sit down talk with him to discuss how to serve customers and act like a normal person in society. Ladies beware…it doesn’t matter what you look like or what you’re wearing you’ll not...
Read moreLet me kick off by saying the food is great. Everything else? Not so much. Took us a second to find the spot as it's down stairs without a visible street parallel, so we couldn't figure out where the restaurant was until we crossed the street.
The server was incredibly slow to come out to greet us to the point that we thought it was an order at the counter kind of place. When he finally came over he ran over to another table (delaying taking our order for another few mins). We didn't receive all the beverages we ordered. After the meal was done, we asked for the check. He brings over the ticket with the two entrees and literally begins to make up prices. I ordered a combo and he charged me full prices for both items, I mentioned that I ordered the combo (while pointing at it on my menu as well), he basically said he's not changing the price, soda on the menu was $1.50 on all the menus he charged us $2, and another pricing error occured. He handled the discrepancy with the same bothered attitude he had for the entire night.
Not coming back. Food was good, but the service...
