Square Boy is your local burger joint that brings you back to better and simpler days. Come if you like burgers, fries, onion rings but you know what's even better? Their homemade burgers. At $6.00 each, these homemade burgers are hefty and delicious, made on a charcoal grill. They're bigger than their standard burger and in my humble opinion, the far superior option. Featured in the images is their homemade burger. Note: one of the images shows the homemade burger with toppings made more visible (bite taken, with all the fixings and extra tomatoes) Toppings are free, at no extra cost. There are other franchise chains that allow you to top your burger but this homemade burger puts them all to shame. They have plenty of other food options including roasted chicken with Greek salad as well as souvlaki on a pita. Let's be clear, Square Boy gets 5 stars for the genre of food they serve. It's simple, it's not pretentious, it's quick, and it's just easy when you need a good, filling, satisfying bite. Square Boy is also a little easier on the wallet than most other fares. You can get a generous half chicken with fries or salad for $12, a chicken souvlaki on pita or bun with fries for $9, or a regular burger combo with fries and pop for $6.50. What also never ceases to amaze me is how seamless and efficient the teamwork is at Square Boy. People call in to place orders for pick up, others line up to pay and order and at all times, you hear orders being called out for cooking, orders lined up in queue while food is prepped, and that human staff team are doing it all like a well oiled machine running on autopilot. It's really quite fascinating. Regulars come in and have a good banter while placing their orders. People sit inside at the little booths having a good chow down. In the warmer months, there's also seating outdoors. Need parking? There's a parking lot right beside Square Boy. One last note: Square Boy is cash only. There is an ATM machine that you can use inside the machine. So, if you're in the area, take a pit spot and visit Square Boy - try the homemade burger - a personal fave!

I came here for the nostalgia. My first time here was back around 1980 brought by my grandpa who did not speak English. I clearly remember him trying to order me milk by meowing to the server. Memories. I decided to drop in with the familiar Square Boy sign. A neighborhood mainstay and displayed specials at prices that don't resemble today's inflated prices. I was excited to relive an old style charbroiled burger. I heard the homemade banquet burger was the one to try. Ordered the combo and eagerly waited. I was admiring his much of the decor remains unchanged and dated but i liked it. Brings you back in time. It's a busy place. Finally got my food and stepped outside. I always eat my fries first. Simple, non-salted, the way i like them and a bit soft. I like my fries like that. Especially the non salted part. The container looks small but packs a lot. I did not finish them as i wanted to save space for the burger. Putting away the remaining fries, I carefully unwrapped the burger to avoid any of the custom toppings falling out. I took a bite. It was soft. Tasted the charred flavor of the patty and was thicker than your typical smashed burger. It was not a smash burger. The texture reminded me of plant based meat. I was expecting a crumbly meat gritty texture but was smooth and soft. Not what i was expecting. Had the cheese and bacon, which have flavor, but the beef flavor seem lacking or muted. Bite after bite, it convinced me more that it has fillers in the patty which i was a bit turned off. If you're looking for portions, this place does not disappoint. I could not finish the burger nor the fries and I eat an honest portion of food. If you're looking for volume value this is the place. I was looking for nostalgia and a flavor that reminded me of the good old days of simple charred patty burger, I felt still yearning for it.

Stepping Back in Time for a Burger Delight! Square boy a original retro burger joint that perfectly fits the Danforth areas vibe and has been there for decades, it hit all the right notes for a fantastic. From the moment I walked in, the retro vibe was charming, but it was the genuinely warm and welcoming customer service that really set the stage. The staff were attentive, friendly, and seemed to genuinely enjoy what they do. I got the Double Cheeseburger and a side of Gravy Fries, and I was not disappointed. The burger was a hefty, satisfying. The patties were juicy, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the toppings were fresh. It was a classic burger done right, and it definitely hit the spot. The Gravy Fries. These were a standout! The fries themselves were wonderfully crispy, just the way I like them, and packed a great flavor on their own. Doused in a savory, rich gravy, they were an absolutely addictive side. The whole meal came in at around $13, which I felt was excellent value, especially considering the generous portion size of the burger and the quality of the food. If you're looking for a delicious, unpretentious burger experience with top-notch service and a cool retro atmosphere, I highly recommend checking this place out. It’s a gem!

I have passed by this iconic Danforth intuition for years and always noted the full parking lot. We finally decided to give it a try this month and have now been several times. It looks like, and is, a classis burger joint but it is also much more. Their very large menu has all kinds of souvlaki (dinners, pita, buns, etc.) and really, really good gyros. The burger menu is extensive and also has hot dogs, fries, onion rings, etc. The best deal is their own home made burger...a large, tasty, real ground beef extravaganza which you can load up with a dozen condiments. The souvlakia is delicious, moist and tasty served with the usual sauces. Their tzatziki is delicious. You can also order a whole barbequed chicken if you wish. The usual soft drinks, beer, and original milkshakes are available for beverages. Prices are very reasonable. The uniformed staff were very friendly and helpful to us first timers. The place is small, and is decorated from a previous era. However, it was clean and comfortable and does has an outside patio with a dozen tables. Square Boy has its own parking lot which seems to handle the mostly take-out traffic very well. The place is always busy and we had to wait from between ten and fifteen minutes each time before our food was ready. Reasonable considering that everything is cooked at the time you order. A very pleasant and enjoyable surprise in my neighbourhood and we will be back. Payment is cash only...no cards. I recommend for a tasty and...
