I go to this place 3 or 4 times a week for a coffee, muffin or a cheese sandwich. I have ignored the more often then not stale muffins and watery coffee with grounds floating in the bottom of my cup. I have ignored the rude uninviting signs posted everywhere in the store by the Hitler type manager. I have ignored the overwhelming negative vibe. Why? Because there is no other coffee shop on my route to Glencairn station. Today the manager crossed the line. They lost a customer. I always grab a bun and ask for a slice of Swiss cheese. The cost is under 3 bucks. The odd time the girl hands it to me toasted. 30 seconds on a press. I do not ask for this but enjoy it when she does. Today I go in, grab my bun and ask for my cheese sandwich. The manager puts her hands on her hips and in a rude accusatory tone asks me if I want it grilled. Before I can answer she says "Because that more money. That a grilled cheese sandwich" For almost triple the price. I say ' You are charging me extra to put the same product on a press for 30 seconds" I get a condescending triumphant YEP in response. This is the same woman who I smile at and politely chat with on a weekly basis. FOR OVER A YEAR. Today she acted like I stole from the bakery. Like I was in some way trying to get free food and sneakily rip the bakery off. ( Apparently the odd time I received UNASKED my bun and 1 slice of cheese heated for 30 seconds without paying triple the price is theft in her eyes) I was never her biggest fan but made the best of it when I went in. I acted like a decent NORMAL courteous person. I can honestly say that if this area had another local coffee shop no one would go there because of this horrendous manager. REPEAT Customers are what make a business. She needs to show respect. I have never felt more unwelcome in any business as this woman made me feel today. Unwelcome and embarrassed in front of the other clientele. I now firmly believe that this woman has some sort of mental health issue. She seems to get a kick out of being rude and controlling. Do the owners know how alienating to customers her...
Read moreDecided to try to try R bakery when I was in need of a bun for a sandwich. The large white bun was delicious and soft.
I decided to go back two more times. The second time I purchased their sourdough, small corn bread and alfajores.
The sourdough was good, but on the mild side in terms of tanginess.
The corn bread was interesting as it was a roll/bun. It went nicely with some spicy jam.
The alfajores was not what I was expecting. It was sweet but I thought it would have a more pronounced dulce de leche taste. The cookie was nice and firm, yet crumbled nicely when you bit in to it. I read later that there are different ways to make this cookie and since I have never had it before, I can't really make a comparison to any other alfajores. However, I don't think I would get it again.
The staff were friendly, answered my questions and I was in and out quickly.
However, the reason for the 2 stars is because of safety. Each time I have gone in, I have noticed less adherence to the mask mandate.
The first time, one of the staff members was cutting a sandwich while thier mask was down around their chin.
The second time I went in a staff member was working the register with their mask down low.
The third time was the most egregious. One staff member was wearing their mask around their chin, when we made eye contact, pulled their mask over their mouth and nose. Another staff member, in the back, was chewing on something with no mask at all. Another staff member pulled thier mask down to speak to a coworker, went to the bread display, grabbed and bagged a focaccia - all while their mask remained around their chin. Lastly, one of the staff members wore their mask, while cashing out customers,...

Located at the corner of Marlee and Enid Cres.
There is a small parking lot out front and some street parking off Enid.
From the exterior was only thinking this was a bakery with a sit down area to enjoy… boy was I in for a pleasant surprise.
Walking in, there was a very large sitting area with a TV tuned to CP24.
Looking around, there definitely was a cafe with a nice spread of very yummy pasties/ cakes and a very nice spread of breads on the opposing wall.
The back area was what caught my attention, a big deli with a very nice selection of deli meats and sandwich selection. There was also a hot station with some pastas, roasted potatoes along with baked sausages and porketta
I picked a little of everything, a focaccia sandwich, vegetable fried noodle paired with the baked sausages topped with grilled onions and peppers. Also got a Arancini and some baked goods for dessert to bring home.
The noodle/ sausages were delicious along with the fresh focaccia sandwich stuffed with freshly sliced salami and cheese.
Will definitely make a return to enjoy the sit down for a nice meal with a hot cappuccino and a slice of cake to try them out Will definitely enjoy...
