It is heart breaking to do this reviewing and not to the restaurant its self how ever to the small community of gibbons.
The food is not even at a standard, blankly terrible.
The chicken nuggets I gotten whwre store purchased and deep fried. The batter soft bland and disgusting was even thicker then the pathetic piece of chicken that was inside along with the crunched out side deep fried layer.
The poutine I got was an east coast one. I am from newfoundland and have also lived in parts of nova Scotia and newbrunswick. I can guarantee nothing about this basic rubbery bland cheese curds and frankly weird gravy is anything of east coast origin.
The meal never had dressing or anything either.
The frys where actually ok maybe needed another 20 seconds in the fryer but no other complaints.
The burger was nothing worth of what your paying im guessing ment to be a quarter pounder bearly covered two thirds the bun.
It had more bacon and lettuce then burger patty. And when paired with the over large bun its like eating a loaf of bread with some sauce and veggies.
The drinks are a little under cool side not cold at all and the milk newest was 2 days to expire. Not saying it was bad but how the rest turns out im guessing it wont be checked regularly.
The wait time was 20 minutes for fast food. Was going to order a pizza how ever that was going to take 35 minutes at a fast food joint right!!!!
If i would of known I was waiting 20 minutes I would of got it and waited the extra 15.
We got zero utensils nor did we get napkins.
This is a shame as we are on the road and its a basic service from fast food to restaurants.
I'd save your money and try either going inside gibbons more and try to find a hidden gem or just wait till you reach edmonton.
Won't be going back as the sandwiches across the road at shell have more flavor profile and are better to eat for cheaper. (I'm guessing this is why they are frequently...
Read moreWe order from Sals quite regularly. last night we ordered "the great" it is supposed to have sweet sauce on it. It didn't have the sweet sauce. We called once we noticed in hopes that we could go back and get the sauce but no one was answering the phone. We assumed the must have closed. The sweet sauce kind of makes the pizza, without it it is literally just a meat lovers pizza. We called this morning to let them know that this key part of the pizza was missing last night and we were unable to get a hold of them. The employee we spoke to offered us a free pizza. When my husband called back to have this free pizza made he was met with a confrontational manager who informed him the employee never should have told him he would replace the pizza and that all he was willing to offer him was a side of sweet sauce. When my husband told him that he called last night to report it because he was willing to go back last night and get it but no one answered the phone he was told they didn't answer because they had large orders.
I've worked in customer service for 14 years, the last 6 of them have been in management. To say that I am disappointed in the way this manager handled this situation would be an understatement.
You've just lost two...
Read moreUpdate - August 2023 I dropped in for lunch and picked up a super donair and poutine. The donair was very fresh and delicious. I don't know what it is about their sweet sauce, but I think it's my favourite now as it's a little bit different (and better) than all the other ones I've had. The poutine was quite tasty as well.
Original Review - January 2023 I've been craving a delicious, thicker crust style pizza for a while now. Decided to stop at Sal's Famous on my way home from work. I've always loved Sal's Famous when work used to order them in for the employees and I often wish they continued to do so instead of using a large chain dine-in pizza restaurant located in the Fort. The family loved the pizzas along with the Greek salad and found everything to be delicious. The donair pizza is my absolute favourite, and their donair sauce is very tasty. The prices are a little more expensive than some other pizza places located in the Fort, but the amount of toppings makes up for it as Sal's Famous pizzas are more filling and just taste better. The customer service is great as well. I'm sure I'll be stopping here more often when the family...
