I've been enjoying the dry garlic ribs since 1992 when I first visited town.
EVERY time I go through Hinton (where I lived for several years) I get at least one order. The prices have gone up, but for such a treat the cost is worth it to me since I can have 4 servings from the large order (use Wing's soy sauce ONLY to reheat...that is what Gus uses).
I've had many other items here, and if you like a LOT of cheese you'll love their pizzas. If you don't like a lot, let them know in advance.
Food is best eaten there, unless it's the dry ribs.
Helen is a great waitress, she's been there forever (she's the owner's sister), and you're more than likely to be welcomed warmly whether it's your first visit or haven't been there in ages.
Small place, just don't let the location and outward appearance fool you. It's not a fancy joint, but I've always found the...
Read moreGus' Pizza looks unassuming on the outside but the full parking lot encouraged us to enter. Upon entering, the interior is a delightful surprise with well-dressed tables topped with cloth tablecloths & stemmed water goblets in an setting more often found in a fine dining restaurant. The beautiful wood interior is well accented by the colours and interior decor.
Gus welcomed us personally and invited us to sit where we wished. Our server was prompt, efficient, and friendly and checked on us several times. Food was brought to our table within 10 minutes after ordering and it was tasty.
A visit to Gus' Pizza is a must whether just driving through Hinton, Alberta or staying for several days. We will be back many times to eat at Gus' Pizza when we...
Read moreHinton standard. Everything good and bad with Hinton all at once. Great people. Gus and his family are amazing. Great food.... for a while. It's hard to keep on going back too often as you have to be the kind of person who wants a pound of cheese on each and every slice of pizza... every time. I grew up with Gus' pizza and love it but it's a treat that I may have once every couple of months now. That being said it is one of the only restaurants in Hinton worth eating at. Hinton suffers from a lack of choice. Whether that be for grocery shopping, entertainment or dinning. Restaurants like Gus' reap the benifits. I'm glad that Gus' is family owned and operated and that the family are active in supporting the...
