Lake House Kitchen + Bar — Restaurant in Town of Sylvan Lake

This is not a place I’ll eat at again or recommend to anyone. The restaurant is very nice but the looks are deceiving because the food is horrible and super greasy. We ordered a quesadilla and the bottom of the plate was covered in oil and the bottom tortilla was soaked, the “chef” tried to claim it was from the pesto and cheese but there’s no way they would be that oily. Food is only that greasy when made with excessive amounts of oil. We also had a clubhouse sandwich and you could ring the bread out and the oil would drip out, it was so soggy from the amount of butter and mayonnaise they put on it. You can tell the kitchen staff and the “chef” don’t check what’s in the fridge or the freezer because we were given rancid sour cream, the smell alone made me vomit, and the meat from the clubhouse tasted like it was expired as well. In the morning when we went for the continental breakfast and after the experience the day before the chef walked past us glaring because we sent the food back. We could then hear the “chef” from the kitchen complaining that we were eating breakfast and telling the waitstaff and the hotel front desk manager that we shouldn’t have been allowed to eat, because it was 1030 and the breakfast was over at 10, yet when we got there at 1020 the breakfast was still all out on the tables. In total we sent 3/4 meals back because they were completely inedible...

Have had many instances of missing or overcooked items with this place, but today takes the cake. I asked for yolky eggs and for garlic toast to not be cut with an order of steak and eggs, so I received 2 rock hard yolks(no egg white) and a piece of steak(which was room temperature). Not to mention half a cup of a 5 dollar drink. No side, or usual fresh fruit(well, thats pretty inconsistent as well). It seems I offended someone with my simple requests (which I wouldn't have made if my orders weren't overcooked or wrong often). Either they're inconsistent due to learning or different staff, or someone there deliberately messes up orders if they're offended by the order somehow. Even after countless fouled orders I always thought, mistakes happen, but this instance was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I have a strong feeling my order was messed with somehow, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with this review. I won't be ordering from here again, and I advise anyone else to order at any of the other amazing restaurants in the area that don't seem to be bipolar...

Today we went for a mother daughter brunch. It all started with a very unfriendly greeting. We waited 20 minutes to get anything to drink. I ordered coffee. Wasn't asked for cream or sugar. Waited and eventually took some off a vacated table. However, no spoon to stir it lol. From the time we got in until our waffles came, it was over an hour. Asked for cutlery and no napkins were offered. I went up to the bar to ask for a couple napkins and the gal, someone different than our waitress, literally threw the bag of them on the counter for me to dig some out of, without even looking at me. I can understand having to wait a bit when things are busy but I feel like we were nothing more than an inconvenience. We were getting up to leave when the food finally came with not even an apology. I was not asked if I wanted another coffee until the end of the meal when we asked for the bill, and offered no real apology at any point, just an excuse about being busy. Very...
