Mezcal Taqueria — Restaurant in Trois-Rivières

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this restaurant on May 19,2024 at 6:30pm. Despite being a family of ten with kids, we were treated with racism, rudeness, and utter lack of empathy. After waiting for an hour for our food, we were told it would be an additional 30 minutes, with a recommendation to leave if we weren't willing to wait. This level of disrespect and disregard for customers is appalling. It's disheartening to see a restaurant operating in the food industry without any semblance of care or hospitality. This experience has left a lasting negative impression not only of the restaurant but also of the city as a whole. We left hungry and deeply disappointed.

Additionally, to add to the already disappointing experience, we were initially seated separately despite being a family. We tried to cooperate by accepting the seating arrangement, but it seemed that the staff took advantage of our willingness to compromise. This further exacerbated our frustration and disappointment with the overall experience at the restaurant. It's disheartening to feel mistreated and taken advantage of, especially when trying to make the best of a challenging situation. This could have been a great dining experience, but the restaurant seemed overwhelmed with what was going on. We were a group of 4 seated in the bar area. It took the server 30 mins just to take our drink orders and that because we had to ask numerous times. Drinks were good though. We then placed our food orders. Instead of everything arriving at similar times, half the table got their food, finished eating then the other half got theirs. The server forgot to ring up my taco order and had to wait once again seeing as the kitchen seemed to be slow that night (waited almost 45 mins for tacos).

When we brought up the fact that service was difficult that night, the server (who seemed to be a little intoxicated) mentioned that they have a small grill and that can't keep up with numerous orders. We found that quite ordinary seeing as a restaurant should have the right equipment in order to serve their customers properly. I was rather disappointed that the server didn't offer anything to compensate for the bad experience. Just a small gesture would have changed everything. This place was amazing! I really was mindblown by everything! The staff was friendly, the ambiance was good and the food was amazing!

With my friends we shared the guacamole & totopos which was delicious. The totopos (corn chips) were home made and incredible!

Then I had the shrimp tacos that were sooo good, I was happy I decided to had an extra one to my plate!

We finished with Churros which were also delicious!

All of the food on the menu looked appetizing and I wish I could have tried all of the tacos!

The only thing I wish they would have been done differently is the possibility to mix tacos filling. There was no way to try multiple filling unless you ordered different plates.

But it's not that big of a deal since I know I will comeback to try some...
