I decided to go for a motorcycle ride through the white Shell and landed at the Hi Point restaurant and bar at Westhawk lake. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful ride that was capped off by great service and excellent food at this venue. They have only two taps on offer, but one of them was the 1919 draft which is quite tasty. As an aside, it would be nice if they had more taps because this place has great ambiance that screams for more draft on tap as well as a few more TVs for sporting events. Back to the review, my server ( hey Mataya) was excellent. She did not hover around me, but seemed to have a well timed approach that wasn’t suffocating, but was appreciated. I ordered a mere tuna melt on garlic toast, and it turned out to be very good. Surprising because it is a very basic dish. I sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance of the log cabin look of the facility. It was nice and quiet and a very welcoming experience. How’s the weather turns colder the inside is just as welcoming with a continuation of the log cabin feel. It’s a nice escape with reasonable pricing and good service. I would definitely go there again.

The Hi-Point is the only restaurant open year round in West Hawk Lake. While the competition up the street might be more famous, the Hi-Point has a great outdoor patio for summer happy hour. If you are staying in one of the many resorts in the area in the winter (I recommend Tallpine Lodges for a romantic couples only retreat) I suggest you order the homemade pizza for takeout. My favorite is The Local. If you want a fast breakfast, I think the best breakfast options in West Hawk can be found here. For lunch, tear into the Rueben sandwich with a side salad. For my money they have the second beat rueben sandwich in Manitoba. The sourkraut has flavour whereas most ruebens in Manitoba use the more local Ukranian sourkraut which is more bland than it's German counterpart. Be sure to check the sign out front as the specials change all the time. They also have had a celiac chef at one point and can certainly accomodate your gluten free needs if asked.

Dropped in for a bite after a long day out on the lake. I tried the spicy local burger and Poutine. The burger was delicious. It was cooked perfect, juicy, all the toppings were balanced, and the Jalapeno was not too spicy (pickled). The Poutine was also good with home fries. I was happy to see how many gluten free options there were here (rare outside of cities). The pricing was also not bad at all for a beach area. The waitress forgot to put our order in (we waited around 50 minutes for our food) and acted a little pouty toward us afterwards. But other than that, I would stop here again when in the area.

The food was very tasty. Unfortunately the service did not meet our expectations. We were quite a large group (21), so we did tailor our expectations, by despite this we were still disappointed. Despite the reservation being made for weeks, they didn't have enough water glasses on the table for us. One of our drinks was forgotten, only one end of the table was ever asked if their meal was ok or if they wanted additional drinks, refills or anything else. The kids never got the ice cream that was supposed to come with their meals. We were told when we made the reservation we had the veranda for 90 mins. When we went to pay we were told that we should have asked someone for the kids ice creams, that they were very busy and the staff were swamped. As the staff were busy we never had the opportunity to ask for the ice cream or for more drinks, ask for more water glasses and water refill, etc. It's a busy season and as our reservation was made weeks in advance, appropriate staff should have been in place if this was the issue. (Date of visit...
