Le Tapis Volant — Restaurant in Val-David

This place is truly a hidden a gem.

After a long day of hiking and a very hungry belly I found this place on google and thought to give it a try seeing it was all vegan ~ and I’m so grateful I did.

It was the most wholesome experience, With the most delicious warm food, Wonderful conversation, And the sense of feeling like I’m at home in my own kitchen and dining room eating with family.

Renaud is not only a wonderful chef but also has the most generous kind heart. He saw me smelling the bouquet of flowers on the table and offered me a flower to take home, Offered us some warm soup as we waited for our mouth watering delicious mango pizza to be prepared, And holy wow the cacao fudge was soooo luxurious and rich.

This seems like a really cute and lovely restaurant and it pains me to leave this review. However we waited almost 2 hours for our food. At no time was there any apology, updates, and no water was brought to our table. While I understand it can be difficult to run a restaurant on your own I do think this amount of waiting time is unacceptable and I wish we had been given a proper apology/warning. While the restaurant was relatively full it still should not have taken this amount of time (only 2 tables were ahead of us and we got a tiny grilled cheese). He was rude to us when the food came because we had checked in with him and he didn't give us napkins. It ruined our whole plans for...

I ate here with my wife during a visit to Val-David and were blown away by the experience. The venue was very welcoming and comfortable while Renaud, the owner, was friendly and interesting. The best part though was the food. My wife had the platter while I had the burger and I'd say the quality and flavour of the food was on par with a fine dining experience but without the pretension. While I'm not vegan I'm frequently disappointed when I eat at vegan restaurants because I leave hungry (I'm a big guy and eat a lot), but I left stuffed.
